CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

Schools without students are worthless. Students are the most essential feature or asset in any educational institution. The student's academic performance plays a significant role in producing the best quality graduates who will become great leaders and manpower for the country thus responsible for the country's economic and social development. It ensures the acquisition of knowledge and skills that allow individuals to increase their productivity and improve their quality of life. The increase in productivity also leads toward new sources of earning which enhanced the economic growth of a country. The top priority of the educators is the quality of the student's performance. Student academic performance measurement has received considerable attention in previous researches and is affected by social, psychological, considerable attention, environmental and personal factor (Ali et.al, 2009).

When students earned a below average grade on a test or a report card, it doesn't not necessarily mean that they do not study hard enough. There are many intelligent children who do not perform well in school, not because they cannot comprehend classroom lessons, but because of internal and external factors that affect their academic success. Student academic performance is influenced by such issues like teacher's education and teaching style, class environment, family and educational background. Unfortunately, defining and measuring the quality of education is not simple issue and the complexity of this process increased due to the changing values of quality attributes associated with the different stakeholder's view point.

Student factor are affected with the high rising technology now a days. Involving social media like indulging themselves in social networking like twitter, instagram, facebook and etc. Spending their free time on computers to play online games that can be addicted and can derive their attentions.
