Expository Essay Topic: The effect of change in environment on students It is never easy for anyone to pack up and leave everything that is familiar and try to adapt to a new environment, but it's especially hard during a time in your life when there are already so many physical and emotional changes taking place in a young teen’s life. There is so many different ways a big move can have an impact on a teen, even if it’s a small or big impact teens still go through changes both in positive and negative ways. Moving place to place negatively affects teen’s mental and physical. It affects teens mentally because when you move to somewhere you are unknown and people treat you differently, like an outcast. It always takes time for everyone to get comfortable with you and vice-versa. Physically teens are affected because moving far distances will take a lot of energy which can distract you from school or work. However, moving place to place can also positively affect on teens by letting teens learn some unique skills. They can show signs of accepting situations as they happen and dealing with them the best they can. They have a better perception of life, how other people live and as adults can also move frequently. After numerous family moves, some often develop positive personality traits, such as independence and resilience, improve their involvement with positive peer groups, relationships with their parents, attachments to the community, prosocial behaviors, educational achievement, and positive personality traits. Teens are constantly making new friends to replace the ones that they have lost, they are often more outgoing and independent. They learn to adapt quickly to fit into this ever changing environment. Highly mobile children are more likely to reach out to a new student because they know what it is like to be the new student.
