Explain How Did You Demonstrate Respect For Learners
LESSON PLAN #2 QUESTIONS
1. How did you demonstrate respect for and rapport with all learners?
Class rules were discussed prior to the beginning of the lesson and, also, a poster with these rules was placed in plain sight. To demonstrate respect for and rapport with all learners, I modeled throughout the whole lesson how one should behave during class, being open-minded to student’s attitudes and providing feedback to these.

2. How did you provide a positive learning environment that both supported and challenged learners moving to self-determination?
I provided a safe environment by explaining that everything that will be discussed between us will stay between us, emphasizing that there is no question we cannot figured out. Also, I gauged how students behaved throughout the lesson and how much they are showing self-determination to let them work as independently as possible.

3. Explain how your strategies engaged and motivated learners’ prior learning and personal, family, cultural and/or community assets with new learning.
I had already discussed the specifics,

These lesson objectives were also submitted for full approval from the course instructor prior to the lesson being taught. These students, due to their disabilities, are more inclined to benefit by working on a one-on-one environment, with a more direct instruction approach. Some of these students detour very easily from instruction inside the general education classroom and that’s why it was decided to use a pull-out approach using the Resource Room instead of the push-in alternative inside the general education classroom. I also made sure that the material presented to them is color-coded in order to also improve individual learning and promote self-efficacy within each one of the

I would encourage the learners to word the rules in a positive way, as in ‘do turn up to class on time’, rather than in a negative way, as in ‘don’t be late to class’. Examples of ground rules would be; ‘Respect each member of the class when they are talking’ and ‘keep confidentiality within the classroom – what is said in class remains in class.’ When they had finished, I would ask each group to feed back to the whole class.…

First, one way the teacher can engage strategies is to simply the lesson for the students and give them an opportunity to help find themselves as well as the answer. Second, you can use comics and graphic novels to engage young boys more than girls, into reading. Images are powerful, so young boys are very interested in it. The teachers can develop a complex discussion from a simple idea and help stimulate student’s critical thinking. Finally, teachers must engage students in generating knowledge and testing hypotheses according to the methods of inquiry and standards of evidence used in the discipline.…

Therefore it is essential for me that establishing ground rules are fundamental for ensuring classroom management in any learning environment; understanding the needs and views of those contributing, will have a greater appreciation from the group. Atherton, J.S (2005) defines ground rules as” The minimum necessary conditions for getting learning work done in the class.” By setting boundaries for learners, they will help to create a safe and relaxed environment that will ultimately promote transparency, underpin behaviour and mutual respect for each other.…

Setting a good environment for the group was the task which I found easiest. I began the session by entering the room and closing the door behind, this was the first environmental barrier removed as it meant that there would be no interruptions from outside of the room. This was not something that was planned or discussed it was just common sense. The second barrier that had to be solved was the lighting in the room. The lights were off this was something that was planned to show that I understood examples of environmental barriers and knew how to overcome them. For me this was the easiest part of the assessment. We face environmental barriers when trying to communicate with people every day of our lives so over coming barriers was not something that needed to be practiced. I knew to shut the door when entering the room as outside students were changing from lesson to lesson. If the door was left open this would have interrupted the role play, as well as in our scenario if people felt that what was been said was been heard by others outside of the room this could make them feel uncomfortable. The light had to be turned on so that everyone could see each other’s body language and facial expressions. It is important for all members of the group to be able to see each other properly because it makes every member feel valued, as well as giving their words meaning.…

As a new teacher I have not be given the privilege to have my own classroom yet, but I was given the opportunity on two occasions to practice my teaching skills with students. These two experiences have given me so much insight on how a classroom is run, and what I need to do implement to have a successful and smooth running classroom. Growing up from a very diverse back ground has allowed me to be more open and accepting with my students. I feel that I can relate to many of them on many aspects. I believe this trait will allow me to be success with not only my students, but with the student’s parents, administrators, as well as my co-workers.…

It was obvious that Ms. Brown had created a plan for this lesson by observing the progression of the skills that were being taught and that they were presented in a logical order that aided student comprehension. Both the students and the teacher were familiar with the skills and the delivery. She also posts lesson plans online. Objectives and expectations of the lesson were communicated to the students on a special place on the board, at the front of the class with essential questions and " I can" statements. Ms. Brown was able to gain the students' attention for the lesson with a hook type activity. It was an engaging question for the student to answer that was related to the topic. Students worked independently, in pairs and in groups and read a selection either by themselves or with another student. The material was then presented in a graphic organizer by the teacher with illustrations and relevant examples provided by the students. They also read the selection (either our loud to a partner or to themselves) and then the material was displayed in the form of a graphic organizer for the visual learners. Ms. Brown used PowerPoint to present the material.…
