Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Love is not when there are no fights in the relationship. Love is when once the fight ends, the good memories of love are still there. You are still happy in the relationship. In the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, directed by Michel Gondry, memory and relationships play major themes throughout the film. In the film, Joel Barish and Clementine Kruczynski, the main characters, go to Lacuna Inc. to erase their memories of each other when things went wrong in their relationship. Clementine gets the procedure done first, and Joel gets the procedure done soon afterwards out of anger. During the procedure, however, they realize they are still deeply in love with each other. Joel and Clementine’s love story proves love is like a rollercoaster, …show more content…
Stan and Patrick, the technicians of Lacuna Inc., show up to Joel’s apartment to begin the procedure. As the procedure goes on, Joel begins to realize he does not want the procedure anymore. Joel realizes he is still in love with Clementine. One good memory Joel has is they are on the cracked frozen ice of the Charles River. Joel and Clementine are lying on the ice when Joel says; “I could die right now Clem, I’m just happy.” Another good memory he has is when they were in bed together; Clementine asks Joel if she is ugly. Joel and Clementine then share an intimate moment and Joel repeatedly says you are pretty. Clementine tells Joel to never leave her. The good memories throughout the procedure reminded Joel of the happiness Clementine brought him. He tries to escape by hiding in different memories that Clementine is not in. Joel retreats to his childhood memories to save Clementine from being erased altogether. Joel has “gone off the map.” Not only has Joel gone off the map, he tries to wake up causing his eyes to open but not be alert. Joel cannot move or speak, even though his eyes opened. Joel is desperately trying not to forget

Dr. Donovan also made an association with Helen’s unconscious feelings of needing to be seen and recused with the chance meeting of a former professor. Helen in a session with Dr. Donovan discussed the fact that days prior to this dream she ran into a former professor who knew her in graduate school and was aware of her gift of writing (he sees her). The professor who is now divorced invited Helen for drinks which aroused her interest (thought process). Dr. Donovan associated that thought process with Helen dreaming that while she was floating down the river this professor had his hand out trying to recuse her. Dr. Donovan tried to strengthen the ego by redirecting Helen’s conscious process suggesting that Helen try to remember what if felt like when she was noticed for her…

In Fannie Flagg’s esteemed novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, characters and lessons from both the past and present inspire our main character, Evelyn Couch, to make changes in her life. The epitome of middle-aged misery and menopausal depression, Evelyn learns lessons from the stories and advice given to her by characters such as Mrs. Virginia ‘Ninny’ Threadgoode help her lift the veil of gloom cloaking her and aid her in reestablishing her dreams and goals – such as gaining a healthier and happier marriage with her husband, Ed, or losing all her unnecessary pounds. What sparks her journey to this better life, one she can actually look forward to at night rather than considering suicide, are the stories of a small Alabama town in the 1930’s and the residents who fight for happiness in a difficult time; Evelyn takes these stories of times past and uses the morals and advice given by Ninny to face each of her problems and attack every day with confidence. The transformation Evelyn embarks on is a sign of how strong she, or anyone, can be when their head is in the game, and as we see Idgie still selling her foods at the end of the book, we conclude that the past can live on even into the present.…

Miriam shifted in her bed. She couldn't sleep. Her mind was racing with countless questions but no answers. How did Theodore get amnesia? How did he get from the Ice Cavern to the Twilight Forest? Does he really have memory loss? He could be faking it just to gut her when she had her guard down. Miriam had to be careful around him. She looked over to Theo's bed and saw him soundly sleeping under the wool blanket. Theo didn't seem to be the type to backstab someone. To he he was just an innocent person who bumped their head a bit too hard. To be honest, she even thought he looked a little....cute when he was sleeping. Her face heated up as she tried to shake off the thought. I can't think of things like that she thought. I can't dare to fall…

Twelve Angry Men is a play about a young boy on trial for murdering his father. If the boy is found guilty, he will be sentenced to death. Throughout the movie Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café we have been introduced to every theme from sacrifice, racism, to death. These three themes, plus many others, have shaped the book and movie to the phenomenon that they have become together. Mainly following four women, the book travels through decades of hardship, friendship, and independence. Evelyn Couch unexpectedly is immersed into the story of Whistle Stop, Alabama after meeting Ninny Threadgoode, and soon starts to feel as a citizen of Whistle Stop back in the early 1900’s, and embraces the free-spiritedness of both Ruth and Idgie, and altering her outlook on life.…
