English 111 Reflection Paper

I have been a student at Northern Michigan University for one year now as well as English 111 for one semester, and for that time being I have grown and learned so much more than I could have imagined. It was a rough road coming into college not really know a lot about english, especially with having a pretty elementary writing style. It was during my “Biographies of Things” research paper, I learned to do powerful research as well as open-minded voice, but I still need work on the structure and transitions in my papers. English 111 has taught me many things that I should have learned in high school, but at the same time helped me to better learn about myself. When I first started my Northern career I was majoring in Biology, but I ended up switching to Political Science. On April 11th in my reflections I stated, “Science is… my favorite subject.” All the biology courses I was taking made me realize that becoming a dentist was not what I really wanted to do
I started with researching things I just really liked to do so I started with traveling which lead me towards some government jobs, as well as the Political Science major. Continuing on that note, I stated in my reflections on April 13th “Why… do we have to choose the rest of our lives at 18 or 19 years old?” I remember this being a stressful time for me debating if I wanted to make my major change and whether or not it was right for me. Choosing a career that you want to do the rest of your life is a scary thing now add that onto a teenager whose interests or hobbies might change in the future, but you are possibly already in a career that you can not change out of.
