English 0812: Analytical Reading And Writing Analysis
In this English 0812: Analytical Reading and Writing, I have learned a great deal of beneficial knowledge in writing. As a bilingual person who knows Chinese and English, I struggle with Literature writing a lot ever since young. Even though I grew up in the United States from Kindergarten, English is still a challenging subject in my educational path. After attending the English 0812 class in this semester, I have improved on my writing, analyzing, revising, and editing skills. I am very satisfied and pleased with my development. Throughout the English 0812 class, I have written a total of 3 essays: “Technology Influence American Student’s Perceptions on Plagiarism”, “Privacy Concerns on Internet”, and “Integration of Chinese Food with American’s …show more content…
Essay 3 was about modification of Chinese food. In this essay, I discussed the modification of Chinese food in America and Philadelphia. The reason why I struggled on this essay the most was because of narrowing the area of my topic to focus in Philadelphia only and not America in general. For this essay, there was only peer review to receive feedbacks for it. The peer review only provided helpful feedback to a certain extent, so I relied heavily on my own revision and editing skills for better improvement. As for Essay 1, it was “Technology Influence on American Student’s Perceptions on Plagiarism”. This essay was based on Trip Gabriel’s claim that digital technology makes cheating and plagiarism much easier and then it was supported by another class reading assignment and an ethnographic report. My professor, Carolina Maugeri, provided me two feedbacks since the I didn’t reach the expected grade requirement due to some organization issues and not fully developed supportive details. Therefore, I turned in a revised Essay after on these areas. In the peer review for this essay, I didn’t participate a lot except just writing feedbacks on the essay copy of my peers. My second essay was titled “Privacy Concerns on the Internet”, which discusses the potential harms of releasing private information on online and ways to avoid or protect oneself from privacy invasion on the Internet. This essay was much better because I explained my quote efficiently and connected them as much as I

The English 3003 class has helped me in various ways in improving and shaping my writing skills. Although some of the work were tedious and sometimes frustration at times, but overall it was a fun class to be in and was a great learning experience as well. I had to take this class not because I failed to secure an 8 in the WST test but because I had problems mainly due to my poor writing. Throughout the class this quarter I experienced many methods and different types of writings and essays. The writing homework took time, and several ideas and sometimes google searches to make it a good essay I can score marks on, but in return, I learned skills and techniques…

Out of the ten arguments that were in Dr. Towns article I have chosen the argument about The Convicting, Convincing, and Converting Power of the Message. When we begin to look at how people come to Christ, they come to Jesus for a lot of different reasons. One of the quotes from the literature reason about the bible that I would like to include is 'The Bible has a transforming power to change the lives of individuals. We can take the Apostle Paul and look at how he was change on the road to Damascus. Paul conversion happen when he thought he was doing things in the name Christ but he was yet to be converted until he encounter Jesus on that road. It’s an interesting how Gods meets us where we are in our sin. Another quote that intrigues me was ' The Bible is unique in its call to repentance, in its convicting power to unsettle those who sin, and its power to convert and transform those who accept its message. Everyone encounter is different. When we were initially convicted yea it was emotional because we were kind of tired of the position that we were in. It was like a light bulb came on letting us know that we need God. So the transformation begins and we begin to look at ourselves as the man in the mirror that needs to change his ways, in the words of Michael Jackson. So the words that we read touch a place in our hearts to lets ourselves open up to get to know this man name…

I also had to refrain from using sentence fragments to improve the flow of my writing. Despite, all the obstacles, I have developed the skills needed to formulate an essay. However, this course has given me the knowledge needed to succeed in writing many well-structured papers.…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

Throughout my writing career, I have observed several aspects with the potential to shape any writer’s success. Among the elements, the most influential of them is the English course in which the student enrolls. Moreover, English courses hold influence over a student’s life in that they have a responsibility to either advance or reduce the writer’s skills. The progress in my writing development began when English II guided me through noticing worth in my writing, finding pride in a strength, and appreciating positive aspects of the course.…

Writing is a process in which people put their thoughts onto paper to express ideas, concerns and sometimes apprehensions. People from different backgrounds and cultures express themselves in numerous ways giving the readers insight into their world. Being an Indian who has studied in a school founded by the British, I have been introduced to a foreign style of writing which is remarkably different than college level papers in the United States. My first encounter with college level essay writing was when I filled out the Common Application essays. The topics were primarily about introspection and using my voice to tell my story.…
