Egg Transport Vehicle Analysis.
For this project, we had to design and produce a vehicle that would transport an egg across a ramp of varying heights without the egg breaking.

Plastic bag, 1 piece of ¼"x3"x6" plywood, 2 balsa strips, 1 piece of oak tag, 2 large plastic wheels, 2 plastic straws, 2 small plastic wheels, 2 cotton balls, 1 plastic cup, 2 rubber bands, 2 birch dowels, 1 piece of sponge are materials we were given at the start of the activity.

Shock absorbing system, seatbelt, roll cage, balance, craftsmanship, low center of gravity, parallel axles--all are characteristics that a vehicle should have if it is going to transport an egg.

Designing is the first step of the technological method. This is when you sketch what your project is going to look like, and figure out how you are going to put it together. Next, you have production. This is when you put together your project. Then you test. We tested with hard-boiled eggs, and we had no problems with that. Last of all is the analysis. That is what this report is.

Could the quality of construction have been better? Well, the egg never broke, but the back axle fell off on the 6-inch ramp after landing on it. On the 12-inch ramp, the vehicle almost did not make it over. We had to replace the tape on the top part so that the egg would not fall out. It made it over on the third try, and before that it was flipping over and hitting the sides of the ramp. The front axle fell off on the 18-inch ramp as a result of landing on it. The performance of our vehicle on the last ramp was great. It went over on the first try, landed on the front wheels, and the egg was in perfect condition.

In conclusion, I believe that we were successful in designing and producing a vehicle that would transport an egg across a ramp of varying heights without the egg breaking (thank goodness it didn't!). This project was fun, and I enjoyed doing

    Egg Drop Project Essay

For this project, I made a capsule for an egg that is to be dropped from about twenty feet. This capsule that I made was not what I was thinking at first but when I started to build it, I saw that this capsule would hold better than the one that I was thinking which was a triangular capsule with the egg in the middle but I saw later one that the egg would break if it hit one of the flat sides. The capsule is a cube that is made out of the tongue depressors and I used most of the yarn for the big cage and I used the Elmer’s glue to glue the tongue depressors together. I used pieces of the paper clips to hold the popsicle sticks together with the tongue depressors and some more glue. I then made the center, which was made by two popsicle sticks that I had which formed into a triangle and I made a little railing around it with the paper clips. I then put the cotton puffs inside the triangle that was formed with the two popsicle sticks and it is used to cushion the egg while it’s falling so when it hits the floor, then it wouldn’t receive all the damage if the cage were to break and the small egg holder were to fall out of the capsule or if it were to hit the floor straight. I used the pipe cleaners to hole the egg inside the egg holder so that it doesn’t fall out of it and break. I used some glue to glue the cotton puffs to the railing that was made for the egg holder and to the two popsicle sticks.…

    The Scrambler

For our car we decided to make it a rubber band car since that would give it the most mechanical and potential energy. The rubber bands were to act as our potential energy since it stored all the energy as we pulled it back to wind it up. The whole car then would be running on mechanical energy. As the rubber bands unwind, it turns the rear axle of the car which then drives the rear tires to move the car. Miranda made sure to get the car to only go forward by figuring out the right amount over rubber bands and how tight to make them. Another way to not make sure the car went a different direction was to make sure the bands released and didn’t get twisted back up. If they did that would result in a car that went backwards. The tighter we got them the father the car would go. It turned out to be about 4 bands that were tied together. The car was able to go because of the force that was being built up with the bands as they tightened. The back wheels were also put on tight so the car went straight and the axle was secured with glue to the rotating piece of wood. The only force acting on the car were the bands and with the cement ground there was no friction, so the car had a smooth ride. The speed did slow down however after the initial take off but we wanted it to go slower as it approached the wall for the safety of the egg. Overall our project went really well.…

In this project I also became aware of how similar paper planes and real planes are in the design you have to plan for all outside forces including wind, gravity, and the engines (or my hand in the paper planes case.) No matter what the design there's no way to plan for the outside forces involved in this experiment so you'll never get a true result every single time. All of the different aspects of engineering come into this and I was blown away and intrigued at the different dynamics that take place in this…

    * With the building of our cars, we were measuring the mass of the egg, mass of the car, time for it to go down the track, and the width so that it would fit down the track. The variable that affects our cars the most is the mass. If your car weighs to little, it will go at high speeds and the egg will most likely not be protected, but if the car weighs to much it might not make it all the way down the track.…

After the demolition part of the job, the ramp went up like the first two did. It was a really awesome experience because everyone on the team did not know each other at all or not very good on the first day, but after working together for four days, everyone felt like they had known each other all along. The most meaningful part of this mission trip was meeting with the people that we built the ramps for. One lady that we met with had not been able to go outside for months and she was a Hospice patient. She told us that she was so exited and happy because she could now go outside and here the birds. Hearing her say this just made me feel warm inside because something so small made such a huge difference in her life. This trip really helped me grow as a person because I can see how easy it is to take small things for granted like going outside and listening to the birds chirp. I am very excited about another mission trip that I will be able to go on next summer. I will be traveling to the Bahamas to help many other people who are in poverty and to spread the love of Jesus. I hope that it will be as great as an experience as Deep…

First, Joe got the keys to his dad’s F-150 , which was loaded with snow tires and a snow plow. Joe conglomerated the snow into one massive, 20 foot pile, far bigger than ever before. The in-run was as big as a two story house. Looking up to the in-run, the top of the pile glistened with the orange rays from the sun creeping under the mass of snow. After the in-run was finished, we took out the shovels and built another snow pile, which was a few inches taller than my five foot stature. The four of us spent nearly an hour sculpting the jump and grooming the in-run to perfection. Lastly, we built the landing by piling another mass of snow nearly 10 feet away from the jump. Before heading in for hot chocolate and dinner, we froze the jump so that it would harden overnight. We finished at 9 o’clock, so it was pitch black; I had no idea what the jump looked…
