Effective Strategies Employed by Managers in the Business World

In the business world some managers encourage individual competition among employees, while others promote collaboration and teamwork. Which do you think is a more effective strategy? Make sure you support your position with reasons, explanations, and examples.

The job market is doing well and many companies are hiring. Individuals with good skill sets are very much in demand. In todays business world there is lot of competition to hire qualified people. People are working very hard to meet deadlines. Managers are trying hard to meet their goals. It is very important for managers to promote good working environment for all their employees. I strongly believe in good collaboration and teamwork among employees. It is very unethical to promote individual competition among employees.

The individual competition among employees leads to less productivity. Most of the working professionals work long hours to meet their goals. They spend more time at work than at home. If the pressure at work gets hard, it is hard for anyone to enjoy work. If there is individual competition among employees, there is lot of stress factor involved. Employees will have no motivation to work with their peers and there is no sense of teamwork. Having so much work pressure and stress will only lead to health issues. With deteriorating health and stress there can be no productivity at work place.

Working in any company provides social interaction with team members. The team members work in a united way to deliver the product. They share their knowledge and learn from each other. Each member has specific contributions towards the project. If there is individual competition among the team members, members will be trying hard to put down each other’s work. It is all about showing who is “better”. This can bring about lot of negativity and hamper the work culture.
