Edtpa Strengths And Weaknesses
Summary: edTPA videos As I prepare for the edTPA, I evaluate my teaching ability and set goals for improvement. When I recorded myself teaching I noticed my strengths and several things that I can improve on. I will discuss the observed strengths and weaknesses in this document, and goals of improvement. Some of my strengths, as observed in the videos, include my ability to build rapport with the students and to provide safe, challenging learning environment. I referred to students by their names and engaged them as I performed a quick demonstration. Something not obvious in the video is that the student who I called on to assist me is one of my “challenge” students—he gets off-task easily and becomes disruptive so I keep him on task by

Although EPA 624 does not require an MSD, I recommend you continue to run one when you have an extra (fourth) vial. This should meet any Waste Management contract requirement of spiking each sample during the year (I’m assuming the WM contract includes 624 samples – the main intent is to spike all groundwater samples during the year). Also, you could run a duplicate, which requires only one more vial, when you have a sample (possibly an influent or leachate) where you know there are target analytes.…

In addition to my enthusiasm for investing in young lives, I have done some volunteering as a teaching assistant to get some hands-on classroom experience for formal teaching. My experience at the school allowed me to acquire a number of skills and also help enhance my weaker ones. The key skills and strength that I possess for success include my enthusiasm and dedication to my assigned duties and my ability to support and inspire young people through being a good listener to them and offering appropriate advice. I am also highly skilled in assisting the instructor in supervision of students’ arrival and departure time, performing clerical and record keeping tasks and maintaining discipline of the classroom in the absence of the instructor. One of my greatest strengths is helping maintain a well-disciplined learning environment, with minimal interruptions and maximum productivity. This is achieved by pulling misbehaving students aside, reinforcing positive behaviour, and implementing a reward system.…

Now that I’m entering session three I have a different view of the program. The artifacts and objectives develop an educator holistically. EPI is not a class but an overall teacher focused experience. The past few sessions have been informative and it serves as a “safe place” for new teachers to express their success and challenges without fear of being looked upon negatively. The program takes the development and performance of teachers seriously. The participants desire to do well in…

The abilities an individual possesses are an accumulation of their previous life experiences and the various competences which have been practiced for many years. Often times, these skills are overlooked and taken for granted as we never actually think about them in terms of their effect on our potential career choices. After thinking about my personal skills, I compiled a list which included; communication, cooperation, patience, listening, helping others and perseverance; all skills which I have possessed for majority of my lifetime and have used to overcome many challenges. One example in particular which required me to draw on many of these skills, was fairly recently; I am a dance instructor for children ages four to seven and there was a young boy who joined the class later than the rest of the students. I noticed that he was struggling…

An outstanding educator possesses unique qualities that set him or her apart from others in the field. Ask any student about a favorite teacher and listen intently as he or she describes that person with a smile. Ask a parent of a child who will enter first grade in the fall about the teacher choice for their child. The parent would describe the outstanding educator in their desire for that special teacher. The qualities of an outstanding educator are easily recognized by those whose lives they touch, shape, and change on a daily basis. It is in this writing piece that they will be described and discussed.…
