To maintain a commitment of professionalism: To maintain a commitment of professionalism is all about professionalism for both personal and professional growth. The ways I shows that I am professional are: I keep the parents and children files and observations confidential. I am very organized and work in a clean work space. I am hardly if not always on time to work and work related functions. I enjoy working with others and am always energetic with a great attitude with any task. I know how to assist with a disabled child or special needs child. I always ask questions on new rules or ways of going about in my work place to always try to be ahead of the game.
CSVI a) Reflect on why you chose an early childhood professional. The reason I chose to be in early childhood is because I love working and playing with children. I started child development classes my freshman year of high school and did it for four years. I love the way children learn and interact with one another and independently. In child development we would walk over to the elementary school; teach and listen to the children read and write for an hour.
CSVI b) Reflect on what you believe are the most important indicators of professionalism that you possess. My most important qualities of professionalism are being organized, having a positive attitude, and being able to keep children and their family’s information confidential. I also know how to handle disability children and special needs problems. My final quality would be that I stay informed on new policies and education on early childhood

To maintain a commitment to professionalism I remember that the parents are the primary teachers and I’m there to support them. I meet children where they are and build off where they are as an individual not just developmentally because some children thrive faster and better than others; and just because a child may not thrive as well as another child does not mean they haven’t accomplished anything. I encourage parents to praise every milestone regardless of how big or small it may be. I also express to the children that I work with that an accomplishment is something big; even if it’s not what we were looking to achieve. Its progress and they are still doing great and if there is no progress we need to keep going.…

Professionalism is not just a set of appearances, nor is it just technical skill. Many technically skilled people are not really professional. Professionalism is, rather, a set of internalized character strengths and values directed toward high quality service to others through one's work. In their daily work, whatever it may be, real professionals show these inner strengths and attitudes: sound judgment, business experience, mature responsibility, problem-solving perseverance and creativity, along with what people call "class." This is as true for hair-dressers, carpenters, machinists, police officers, and barbers as it is for lawyers, physicians, and engineers. Any honest work can be done professionally. Professionals show self-respect in their work. They're conscious that their work reflects their inner character. Their work is, among other things, a statement of their personal commitment to excellence of performance. They don't see work as just a job to be done. They see work as service to others.…

To me, professionalism means a sense of maturity. If I was looking to hire someone that was “professional,” the first thing that I would be looking for is someone that does not think of themselves being greater than everyone else. The good thing about this is that maturity is usually easy to spot. Especially this day in age, the way people dress and talk can easily set them apart. Employers today want to find people that give off a sense of maturity from the moment they walk through the interview door to the shake of the hand at the end. I have always thought of myself as being mature, but one time I can specifically remember acting professionally was at my high school Kairos retreat. I first went as a candidate, and then I was chosen…

The topic of professionalism seems quite broad and daunting. It is hard to describe in a sweet little sentence or even a three paged double spaced paper. Professionalism is many things to many people and may include the way we behave and the actions we make. Key to exhibiting professionalism is maintaining a positive attitude that shows respect and acceptance towards others at all times and under all circumstances.…
