Level 5: DTLLS / CITY & Guilds – Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Unit 402: Delivering Lifelong Learning.

Define what is meant by an inclusive learning and teaching environment;
Inclusive learning and teaching environment; to me it means a safe and welcoming environment with a cooperative relationship between learners and teachers. That is based on incorporating activities, programs and associated material and resources within a comfortable learning environment, which supports the learners and allows them to maximise their learning potentials, to enable them to participate and contribute positively, in order to get the best opportunity to succeed, * L. Wilson (2008) states that inclusion is; “about creating interesting, varied and inspiring learning opportunities for all learners; ensuring all learners contribute and are never disadvantaged by methods, language or resources”. I have achieved this by complying with the * Equality Act 2010, and adhered to its legislations, based on promoting learners’ equal rights to education without prejudice, discrimination or being disadvantaged, and promoted positive behaviours in the classroom, and valued and respected learner’s differences, * Reece & Walker (2004) states; “We agree that all students must have a fair and equal chance to learn. This essentiality is embodied in Equality of Opportunities”.

Describe two Learning theories used in the classroom evaluating their effectiveness;

I used the Humanist and Behaviourism theories as follows;

I have implemented the Humanist theory as motivating factors with learners such as increasing self-actualisation needs, realising personal potential, and seeking personal growth.
