My Best Vacation Ever

It was the summer of 1995 and my best friend Kimberly and I wanted to go on vacation. We thought long and hard about where we wanted to go and finally decided to fly to Florida. Kimberly and I started our planning by searching for hotel rooms in the West Palm Beach area and getting trip tickets from A.A.A. (Automobile Association of America). We found some really good deals from our entertainment book, so we started to reserve hotel rooms for West Palm Beach, Florida. Once we arrived we decided to rent a car and drive down the coast to Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Beach.

In August Kimberly and I boarded a plane for Florida. We had a layover in Detroit, Michigan, which I thought was very interesting. We were heading north to go south! I enjoyed flying so I didn't mind. I sat in the window seat so I could watch the beautiful clouds go speeding by as if they were flying saucers. I also enjoyed the many sites you could see on the ground, entire fields looked like little puzzles from way up in the airplane. Our flight took about three hours.

Once we arrived in West Palm Beach, we rented a car and started the great search for our hotel. It took us about an hour to find the hotel, which was only ten minutes from the airport. We saw some beautiful neighborhoods including the Kennedy mansion. What a gorgeous, huge home. I can still picture it today. It was a three-story brick home with white posts in the front, surrounded by a security gate.

The hotel was right around the corner from the circle we had been driving around the whole time. We laughed so hard when we finally realized just how close we were to our destination.

Upon checking into our hotel we were served champagne. We began to wonder if they thought we were famous. This was my first taste of champagne; it tasted like beer but with a very sweet, bubbly taste to it, the fizz in the drink made my nose tingle.

We loved our hotel room; it was large enough for us to live in! There were two huge

The best trip I have ever went on was when my family and I went to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. My aunt was getting married and my mom’s side of the family was invited to come. We got to go on this vacation last February. We left very early one morning and we went to the airport. It was very cold and the air was very dry. We got to the airport in Sioux Falls and we went through security and waited to get on the plane. Once we finally got on the plane I was very excited to get there. We had a connection in Minneapolis and we had a direct flight from Minneapolis all the way to Punta Cana. Once we finally got to Punta Cana, we were getting off the plane and I could feel the humid, warm air. We had to wait in a very long line to go through customs. After that, we got on a taxi that took us to our resort. The roads in the Dominican Republic are not much different from the roads in the U.S. They still had stop lights, billboards, and the same traffic rules. One big difference we saw on the way to the…

The hotel has 15 floors, and the lobby was magnificent. There was a lounge to hang out in with two couches, a t.v., and a couple chairs. Conner went up to the check-in and got the key to the room and an information brochure to tell them about the hotel. Conner and Allison’s room was 225 on the fifth floor which they got lucky because Allison does not like heights. The room had two beds, a plasma t.v., two chairs each with desk, and one enormous…

We took this trip during summer break. My wife and I decided this trip so all of our family can go together. My father in law and I were taking turns driving it took us about 12 hours to get to Louisiana. The ride was very exhausting for everybodyI had gotten tired so my father in law took the wheel. My wife woke me up as soon as we got to the bridge; to cross to Louisiana I was so excited to see the water and all the trees that she had told me about. We went to her uncles house to sleep and to stay for the trip. After we slept we went to New…

Some people say that the journey is the destination. That was very true for our trip. We stopped at many wonderful and exciting places along the way, such as an abandoned salt mine in Kansas where we were able to venture deep into the mine. That was a strange and unique experience for me. We also stopped in Tulsa, Oklahoma to see the University of Tulsa. I actually got to go play around on their real game field. That was one of the coolest things that I have ever been able to do on a college campus. We also went to see Mount Rushmore for a second time. It was just as majestic and breathtaking the second time around. It truly is one of the…

It all started near the end of elementary school when my grandparents popped the topic of going to Florida. We would even journey to Disney World and go to all four parks. I was ecstatic at the time and as always, the sky above the elementary was bright and blue. By the time of the departure, the last day of school, the sky burned with a bright sun and I gleefully awaited the bell. After my pick up from school, we drove straight to the airport and underwent the grueling process of airport security. As we took off, the entire sky was bright and a blue sea and clouds rolling over the horizon.…
