CIY Move: A Short Story
It was the summer of 2013. My brothers, Caleb and Tyler, and I were just leaving the University of Nebraska, Lincoln because we were on a church trip called CIY Move. Only we weren’t heading home. We were going to Omaha to meet the rest of our family and head down to San Antonio, Texas. “Dude, we aren’t going to be back in Iowa for like 2 weeks. Have we ever been gone from home this long?” I asked my brothers as we were headed to meet my family. Tyler responded, “Don’t know and don’t care! Texas is gonna be lit!” Tyler had no idea how right he was when he said that. In Texas we were staying in a resort called Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch. The resort/hotel was incredibly nice, and it made all of us feel very comfortable right from the beginning …show more content…
They made us realize something pretty important that day. That being, we really should appreciate the small things in life, because sometimes the small things are the most important. As I said before, that necklace was originally a gift for my father that was later returned to Tyler. Since it came from my dad, it means the world to Tyler. As a matter of fact, he still wears it everyday. I, too, had a necklace from my dad and I cherished it. Unfortunately, I lost that necklace.
The difference between Tyler and me in this situation is that I was never able to find the necklace. I was very upset about it for a while, because it did mean a lot to me. I have since replaced that necklace, and the one I wear now has just as much significance as the one from my dad because I just imagine that it was from him. I am forever thankful for what Jade helped me realize when she found that necklace for my brother, and I’m sure Tyler is too. I’m sure we can both agree on another thing as well. We are both very glad that we met Jade and Morgan on that

The Dominican Republic, Punta Cana Is one of the most glorious places I've ever had ever visited; I felt like I was in a lush tropical island paradise. My husband and I were greeted upon arrival to the resort with a cold washcloth and a glass of champagne, I felt like a queen. My necklace was a gift from my mom and I always wear it and rarely take it off. So I guess you could say it has that special effect to it when its around my neck since it was a gift. I always have a wallet in my back right pocket, ever since I was a little kid, even though I had nothing to put in it as a little kid but maybe some pictures and a dollar or two because nothing was more important than trying to be like dad with a wallet. Now I’m just about 17 and my wallet serves its purpose so its kind of like a necessity since I store my, cards, ID, and money inside that leather flap. A wallet probably doesn’t that important, since every man carries one but I am very protective of it since I earned everything in it and I have a mini panic…

One day nearly two years ago, I came back from the worst trip and experience ever in my life. Three years ago, my family made the biggest decision of our lifetime together and we had decided to move. Now the fact that we were moving didn’t bother me or my little sister, it was just the simple fact that we were moving from our home that we had grown up in our entire life. The only problem was the fact that we had eventually found out that we were going to move to Oregon. This Alabama home that we grew up in was very special to me and my sister but it wasn’t the one of best of places. We had lived right beside our grandparents and we loved to go up the hill and see them and us moving had rendered that possibility from happening any longer.…

So wear that purple shirt you’ve wanted to wear, say the things you’ve wanted to say, do the things you want to do. Don’t let people degrade you, you are completely valid. So yeah, I believe in choker necklaces, but most importantly I believe in self love, individuality, and confidence. Be expressive, don’t let anyone dim you, be happy in your own skin. So no, this necklace is not choking me, it’s giving me my voice and I’m alright with whatever you have to say because this is me, this is how I stand out, and if you were wondering this is just what I decided to wear this…

One day after school when I was eight, my parents conveyed to our family that we were moving due to my father’s job. I found this bizarre since we had just moved to our massive house in Fort Wayne, IN about two years earlier. I questioned where we were moving to, and my mother told us we were moving to Texas. This time we were moving across several states rather than just a few towns away. Up to that point in lives, we had lived in Indiana, so moving to Texas seemed so far away and across the country.…

    Receiving A Necklace

What is the meaning of a necklace? Why would someone put this accessory around their neck and then place within it special significance? A necklace doesn't provide water in a drought, like a tap, or protection in football, like shoulder pads; it only decorates. Receiving a cross necklace after your confirmation in the methodist church is a big step in the religious journey. This necklace has seen more than just the inside of my shirt. Although there are thousands of variety between each chain and pendant, it means something special to each owner. Opening the black square silver wrapped box, on christmas day was electrifying. My pulse raced as I peeled back the velvet lid, and unraveled it. The light just caught the chain and pierced my eyes,I slid the chain over my head while the chilled metal cooled my skin. This heavy medallion represents who I am.…
