1a. Internal & external factors contextual factors which influenced the introduction of strategic changes at BA
British Airways is one of the leading airline companies which have a good reputation in airline market, they are 13,500 of flight attendants and 12,000 of them are member of Unite. Due to the financial crisis, BA started facing financial problems and at year 2009, the company has announced Pre- tax 401million Euro lost. To cope with the business down fall and external changes, BA top management decided some strategy changes for cost cutting. However, because the change strategies didn’t get approval from union and without most cabin crews’ willingness to accept, huge wave of rejection from staffs side and followed by a long bitter fight which is mostly centred by payment and welfare/well-being.     1. From each change perspective, what are the key issues to understanding the wildcat strike? From an OD perspective, the leadership at BA failed in a number of areas. They did not communicate properly, they ignored the temperature of the relationship with employees, and they were shortsighted in implementing the change. This was evident in the lack of sense in implementing a change at the front of the busiest season of the year.
