Unit 16 – Human Resource Management in Business
The study of human resource management will help you understand an organisation, its structure, the way it works and its culture. Organisations need their employees to contribute effectively to the achievement of the organisational purpose. In order to achieve this, staff will have to be properly selected, trained and managed. Managers have to understand how to motivate employees and win their commitment to the organisation.
By the end of this unit you must know the factors involved in human resource planning, how organisation motivate employees, how organisation gain employees co-operation and understand the importance of managing employee performance at work.

Scenario
You are required to select a large organisation and investigate the following aspects of their HR planning:
i. How they identify their skills needs ii. How internal and external factors impact on the HR planning iii. Why HR planning is important to the organisation

Assignment should be produced as an article (word document) for your chosen organisation HR Manager to include in their annual report.

i. How your chosen organisation is developing ii. How changes from internal decisions and external events can affect the direction of the organisation iii. The gap between the demand and supply of skills iv. Competitiveness of the organisation
