I learned that a person can here what you are saying to a certain degree and not be listening which can cause the wrong action to go forth. 2. The fact that she was downstairs working and probably listening to the radio was her main focus at the time and not paying attention to what I was saying. There was another was another time I went to the mall for a pair of shoes the manger thought I said I wanted a pair of black shoes when I specifically said brown in this case I was the sender and he was the receiver. The place was very busy and loud that day and was the reason for the misunderstanding. Finally the other day i drove to a local gas station to purchase a carton of smokes it was very busy and the vender being the receiver and I as the sender, thought she heard me say a pack because the place was very busy with patrons. I waited till after it slowed down a bit and explained to her that I wanted a carton of smokes not a pack. She looked puzzled and smiled, gave me what I asked for and said have a nice day.

    Good communication is important to maintain a healthy relationship with family, friends, and partner. Miscommunication can lead to a fights, separation (divorce), and conflict with other people. For example, my father called me today and he stated that my brother Paul did not put the DVD inside the case when he returned it.     Reflecting on this article, I agree with its contents. As we get closer in a relationship, we dismiss the fact that we could be misunderstood by each other on certain situations or certain scenarios. “Getting close to someone appears to create the illusion of understanding more than actual understanding” (Health Day 2011). When this happens, we can become angry with the spouse because we expected them to understand what we meant or said. As couples, we want to believe that we are on the same page all the time because we are so close. Whether we are face to face, back to back, in another room, or on the phone with each other, misunderstanding can and will happen without further questioning from the other spouse. When something is said, it is the other spouse’s responsibility to make sure they are clear in what they are hearing. Without this tactic, there will be misinterpretations between the spouses.
