I ran out of the garage and towards the field. As I ran I thought to myself it can’t be the end of the season already has it? Once I found Roberto and Papa I saw they were sitting under a tree. I was trying to speak in between panting. I had never run so hard in my life. “Papa is is the end of the season already. I mean it has only been a month.” I said hastily. “I'm sorry but Sullivan can no longer pay us. We must move.” Papa sighed, “I'm sorry Francisco.” Roberto stayed silent and was looking down.I didn’t know how to respond just thinking about all that I would lose during this move saddened me. I no longer would be able to learn the trumpet, no longer be taught English, and I would lose a friend; Mr. Lema.…

I walked out of Miss Shnyzer’s office. It had been about an hour ago that Toby Kavner, my name, was called over the loudspeaker. I walked over to my mates, Max Lavell, Jimmy Cass and Dylan Dolan, who were tossing their apples over the wrought iron fence. They are too busy cracking jokes about some homework. I plump down beside Max and start crunching down on my ovalteenies.…

Among the events of world history, the Civil War in the USA is one of the central places. Due to this sombre and mourning event, the current population know the names of Abraham Lincoln, John Brown, Ulysses S. Grant, who stood at the head of armies of the northerners; know the names of General Robert E. Lee, who led the armed forces of the slave owners, fanatic Lincoln's assassin named John Wilkes Booth. It is known, how the war ended and who won it. This creates an extremely dramatic history of this war. It is associated with not only the names of the characters, personifying two warring camps, but many battles, sea battles, the most urgent political debate, skillful diplomatic game, and the Union Confederation (during the war, the North and South of the USA were called). I have to load a weapon? Oh no! Let’s see, first I have to get my cartridge out of the box. I really hate the taste of gunpowder in my mouth when I rip open the cartridge with my teeth. Then I have to pour that powder into the barrel of the gun. What next? Remove the rammer, ram the barrel to set the ammo, and then return the rammer. Then to prime the gun, I have to set my cap, and now I can finally fire a single shot. Am I really expected to remember to do all these steps, for every shot, while at the same time people are shooting at me? What about all the smoke and noise? The noise of the guns and people next to me screaming in pain, or breathing their last breath.…

Thomas followed Hairy out the door and into the hallways of the college. They slowly walked to where the source of the sound came from. Inside a room, with a locked door. Hairy smoothed his hand on the wall, and located a key hanging on a nail. He slowly twisted the key and the door swung open. The sound had abruptly gone away. They backed off, as if expecting something to come running towards them. They were puzzled. The room had never been there. Inside was calamitous, like an explosion had occurred. Cobwebs sticked everywhere. Mossy cracked stone filled the floor, which the seats, desks, and shelves stood on, arranged in a messy way, the ripped books scattered everywhere. Hairy searched the light switch , but it wasn't in the room.…

Speed was very nervous as he took his seat on the dais at five to seven and watched the school straggling to their places. They came in quietly enough, but there was an atmosphere of subdued expectancy of which Speed was keenly conscious; the boys stared about them, grinned at each other, seemed as if they were waiting for something to happen. Nevertheless, at five past seven all was perfectly quiet and orderly, although it was obvious that little work was being done. Speed felt rather as if he were sitting on a powder-magazine, and there was a sense in which he was eager for the storm to break.…

I forced my eyes to wide open, focused them on the ugly round clock’s numbers and I knew I was late to go to school.…
