6.1.2 FA: Narrative Ending I ran out of the garage and towards the field. As I ran I thought to myself it can’t be the end of the season already has it? Once I found Roberto and Papa I saw they were sitting under a tree. I was trying to speak in between panting. I had never run so hard in my life. “Papa is is the end of the season already. I mean it has only been a month.” I said hastily. “I'm sorry but Sullivan can no longer pay us. We must move.” Papa sighed, “I'm sorry Francisco.” Roberto stayed silent and was looking down.I didn’t know how to respond just thinking about all that I would lose during this move saddened me. I no longer would be able to learn the trumpet, no longer be taught English, and I would lose a friend; Mr. Lema.

How I had read in the papers about El Jefe excusing minors, how my baby boy had just turned eighteen in prison, how I wonder if there was anything at all Pena could do to get boy pardon,” (Alvarez 216). All Patria wants is to get her son out of prison. That she goes as far as to ask a person who was part of the government that is imprisoning her family, but the thought of her son in prison for anymore time is too much for Patria. Patria has courage to go to a member of the SIM, risking her own life to save the life of her son. Every action as its own outcome. The outcome of Patria asking Pena to see if he can get her son released from prison payed of in the end. Pena was able to make a few calls and get Nelson released from prison. A few weeks after Patria asks Pena for help. Pena stops by and tells her news about Nelson. As soon as Pena leaves Patria goes to her families and tells them, “Nelson is coming home,” (220 Alvarez).     The first ending chosen by Arthur Miller was actually quite similar to the published one. Eddie assumes his love for Catherine and decides to kiss her once again to make her choose between him and Rodolfo, and stop her from marrying him. He even begs for her to stay and love him. After failing, his next attempt was to go after Marco to get back his name. They both engage in a deadly fight. Eddie died killed by his own knife. His last words were: “Catherine-why?”. This quotation is very suitable for the story, and relates with Eddies feelings for Catherine which he demonstrates in the story. The weakness of this ending is that although Eddie’s actions towards Catherine might be convincing, I think that they are a bit exaggerated, because Eddie always had a tough attitude, and I don’t think that begging fits him. In my opinion, Alfieri should resume the play like he did in the original one. I think this should be done because when the play ends, we get a negative impression of Eddie’s character, so Alfieri’s last words would make us sympathize more with Eddie, saying that although he made mistakes, he is still is capable to love.…
