CIS510 STUDENT GUIDE
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course provides an integrated approach to system analysis and design processes. Students will explore advanced topics to evaluate and select system development methodologies and design system solutions. The role of effective interpersonal communication techniques and integration practices with users and user systems is emphasized.

Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project or their equivalents such as Open Project, Dia, and OpenOffice are required. Tutorials for Microsoft Office 2010 can be found on Microsoft’s support site, located at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/training-FX101782702.aspx.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Describe systems development methodologies including life cycle and iterative design models.
2. Identify system stakeholders and formulate their needs.
3. Analyze and articulate ethical, cultural, and legal issues and their feasibilities among alternative solutions.
4. Analyze techniques for requirements determination, collection, and organization.
5. Summarize effective communication techniques with various organizational stakeholders to collect information using a variety of techniques and to convey proposed solution characteristics to them.
6. Create a use case based on relating functional requirements.
7. Design high-level logical system characteristics (user interface design, design of data and information requirements).
8. Develop clear and concise business requirements documents and convert them into technical specifications.
9. Explain various systems
