Career Choice My dream career is to become a pediatrician. In order for me to fulfill my dream career I would need to graduate with a MD. It’s mandatory to me to pursue this specific degree, I don’t have a choice. A pediatrician is a type of doctor who sees new born infants all the way to teenagers of the age of 18. I know this job will require lots of patience dealing with not only the child but the parents as well. This career choice will require me to stay in school longer than normal education. I will be required to attend four years of college to receive my Bachelor's degree. Then three years of residency and four years of medical school. In order to get accepted into medical school you must take the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test), which tests your abilities in the natural sciences.
About 90% of all applicants with over a 3.8 and 39 cumulative MCAT get accepted. And only about 10% with an MCAT below a 20 get accepted. It's extremely competitive, and I have to make myself stand out and work really hard. Since I will be working in the medical field, I feel it’s best for me to volunteer activities during college, volunteering at your local hospital or homeless shelter. It is important to me to show that I have an interest in the medical field by working in some manner around medical people whether it is getting a summer job in a pharmacy or in a nursing home as a nurse's aide. I am a student whose achievements and accomplishments, academically, or in extracurricular activities will set me apart from other students. My ambition will get me to where I need to go, and that’s on the road to success.

You are looking for assistance to decide whether you should take the leap into entrepreneurship, or look for a corporate position. You appreciate the perks of a permanent corporate job: stable income, health care and retirement benefits, as well as the daily interaction with co-workers and clients. Although, you find dealing with the hierarchal culture exhausting, and these days the stability of a corporate job is not guaranteed, companies are consistently laying off even long-time employees and finally, the rigid schedule of a corporate job is tedious and not practical for many creative workers.…

I like to think of people in the medical field as everyday heroes, I’ve always admired them, I enjoy the idea helping those in need, whether it is a major-medical procedure or a simple laugh. As I’ve gotten older I started to take in to consideration that maybe this was what I would like to do for the rest of my life just like all people I saw and I admired when I was younger. Now that I am in the 11th grade, college is soon approaching and I found myself confused as to how I plan on getting to my goal, I knew the college I wanted to attend and what profession I wanted to pursue, but how was I going to get there? I heard of the High School Hospital Internship program during my 10th grade year when I saw the current interns being selected,…

I was disappointed that my recent MCAT score did not reflect the hard work I put into demonstrating my abilities. I am an average standardized test taker, and although my ACT score was below WU’s average, I was accepted into Washington University in St. Louis. Nonetheless, I have been able to achieve a 3.81 GPA (3.79 science GPA), which I believe is more reflective of my mastery of foundational college courses and that my potential for academic success in medical school.…

The career I picked for this project is a Biomedical Engineer. Biomedical engineers are employed in hospitals, in research facilities of educational and medical institutions, in teaching, and in government regulatory agencies. They often serve a coordinating or interfacing function, using their background in both engineering and medical fields. When working in a hospital the biomedical engineer may provide advice on the selection and use of medical equipment, as well as supervising its performance testing and maintenance. They may also build customized devices for special health care or research needs. While working at a research institution they supervise laboratories and equipment, and participate in or direct research activities in collaboration with other researchers with such backgrounds as medicine, physiology, and nursing. Some biomedical engineers are technical advisors for marketing departments of companies and some are in management positions. Some biomedical engineers also have advanced training in other fields. For example, many biomedical engineers also have an M.D. degree, thereby combing an understanding of advanced technology with direct patient care or clinical research.…
