If I had a personal practice, there are several ways that I could incorporate the practices described in Awareness of Self – A Critical Tool from Esther Urdang. First I would embrace the trio of knowledge, compassion, and authority. These aspects are a critical tool in building rapport and a bond with the client. The article informs the reader of the stresses that are associated with the human services field. This provides a self-reflection and the intricacies that surround personal and client related issues. It is important to be able to identify these issues to prevent boundary problems, burnout, and client related violence.

    Many people engage in community service project because they are either forced as a punishment or sentence. Others engage in community service out of Spirit of unselfishness, or a desire to connect with their communities by helping out. For me, it brings a sense of completeness. During the past few semester my team members and I have engage in different projects, Collecting food, clothes and donating to the homeless. The organization founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda fuller has built and rehabilitated more then 100,000 families in need, becoming the world leader in addressing the issues if poverty housing.
