Chapter I

Background of the Study
There is no other period in world history when science has been making its greatest impact to humankind than it is today. Life in the last century is very different from life as we know it these days. Obviously, technology has become a big part of globalization and it grew even larger and faster than the evolution of man.

Technology plays an important role for humans. We believe it is crucial to support business growth and, on top of that, it can significantly improve your bottom line. By applying the right technology, you can create the means that are needed to reach new markets and the innovation necessary to sustain profitability.

We do not believe in technology as a goal in itself, but rather as a means to achieve goals. Because we understand the needs with regard to strategic innovation, we can develop technologies that address those needs. In a way, we are technology-driven but we always take into account the actual needs and demands. When the word “technology” is used today, it is most often used to refer to high technology like computers.

The computer has become one of the most predominant electronic devices to come out of the field of technology. Computer-based information systems are in the field of information technology.

Information System (IS) refers to a system of people, data records and activities that process the data and information in an organization, and it includes the organization's manual and automated processes. In a narrow sense, the term information system refers to the specific application software that is used to store data records in a computer system and automates some of the information processing activities of the organization. One type of Information System is the Transaction Processing System.

The Automated Students’ Offense System will provide the needed and storing information in a faster, more convenient way by storing file of the student in a computer system that will lessen the effort of faculty staff in storing files of each student every now and then. The idea behind an offense system is not a new concept. This will only serve as an immediate solution to the increasing problems towards the manual recording system that provides more easy way in recording. Statement of the Problem

The purpose of this study is to developand validate Automated Students’ Offense System which can be used by Lorma Colleges Special Science High School in replacement to the manual recording system. The purpose of the study is to answer the following questions: 1. The study aims to develop and validate Automated Students’ Offense System in terms of: a. Face Validity

i. User-friendliness
ii. Accuracy
b. Content Validity
iii. Reliability
iv. Functionality
c. Construct Validity
2. Is there a significant difference between the Manual and Automated Offense System? Assumptions and Hypotheses
1. The face, content, and construct validity of the Automated Students’ Offense System is acceptable. 2. There is a significant difference between the Manual and Automated Students’ Offense System.

Significance of the study
This study aims to design, develop and validate an Automated Students’ Offense System.
People of today’s century seek solutions to improve the way of life that is why the authors came up with this study to benefit the following:
The Students Services Personnel can use this system to record the students’ daily offenses faster and hassle-free.
The Teachers can use it to track the offenses committed by students and to know whether students are excused or unexcused in a certain class or subject.
The Future Researchers may use this as a leaning paradigm to develop a new and better program.

Definition of Terms
1. Automation is a technique by which mechanical processes are subject to some degree of automatic control, without human intervention. 2....
