Animal Informative Speech
Have you ever wondered why a hippos sweat is red or why some gecko's tails can break off when grabbed by a predator, those are both animal adaptations. So what is an animal adaptation? As said on encyclopedia.com an adaptation is a term used to describe the way in which organisms change over time in response to the changing demands of their environment. There are three types of adaptations Behavioral physiological and structural, there's also mimicry adaptation, depending on who you talk to about the subject. In my TED talk I will be talking to you about the three main types of adaptations why animals adapt and I'll be talking to you about some animal adaptations that I found that I find really interesting

the animal must learn to adapt to each of these factors in order to survive. With increasing population growth and human activity that disturbs the natural habitat, animals must learn to adapt to these kind of threats as well. Some places on Earth are very hot and some are very cold. Many places on Earth have a lot of water and plants, and other places have very little water and few plants. Since our earth is very different in each area of the world animals need to adapt to live in certain areas. They adapt by having a layer of fat under its skin which helps keep the animal warm up in antarctica or by having large ears help dissipate excess body heat on hot days in the desert. An animal's environment consists of many different things. The climate is important. Whether it is hot, cold, dry, or wet will have an effect on all the creatures that live in a particular place.Another important part of an animal's environment is what kinds of food plants grow in it. The other animals that live there also have an effect. If there are predators around, the prey animals will have to learn to defend themselves or run fast to escape the predators. These adaptations make it possible for a great variety of creatures to live and thrive on

Careful research will exhibit the concepts of natural selection and adaptation. Selected organism will address the proper concepts that apply. Three physiological adaptions were investigated by the student. Upon conclusion of the student’s investigation, knowledge will grant the understanding of how physiological adaptions allow the selected organism to thrive in its ecological niche. The organism that was selected for this essay is the Fish.…

Biologists over the years have observed that some species evolve in response to the changes in another. These changes can occur in different levels and in different intensities. Some species exhibit molecular changes such as the structures of macromolecules like proteins or lipids, while others show morphological and behavioural changes in the presence of other organisms. Some evolutionary changes that happen in a species can be a change that is most especially directed towards its adaptation in its relationship with another organism. This evolution that happens in response to the changes in the biotic factors of the ecosystem is called co-evolution. The habits or changes in one organism in an ecological relationship create a pressure that drives changes to another. Therefore, evolutionary changes in organisms due to changes in temperature, water and other abiotic factors are not co-evolution, even if changes happen simultaneously in organisms that are in a specific ecological relationship.…

Despite its pungent smell, horseradish is one of those plants that's packed with health benefits, such as an immune booster, aids in weight loss, lowers blood pressure, promotes better digestion and heart health, strengthens the bones, and lowers the chances of neural tube defects a lot of infants are vulnerable from. However, the most notable benefit of horseradish is that it can prevent the formation and development of cancer cells-- thanks to its high levels of glucosinolates. That said, allow us to discuss the other health benefits that you can enjoy from horseradish, that might influence you to plant horseradish as well. 1. Natural Remedy for…

I will tell you what is Kafkaesque about the story The Metamorphosis. The story starts with “Gregor Samsa waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug.” What is kafkaesque about this story is that latter in the story his sister Grete has a different feeling for Gregor that what his parents think of him as he his a bug. His sister tries to feed him but does not know what he likes as he is a bug. The story has an ending that is not like most stories. At the end Gregor dies of starvation. His mother, father, and sister decide to go for a walk after they write letters to the people they are working for.…

Brushing a cat’s teeth are equally as important as brushing your own. Brushing your own cat’s teeth may bee too much work though, but don’t worry, a vet tech will do it for you. This is just one of many responsibilities of a veterinary technician. A vet tech may also prep animals for surgery, communicate with pet owners, assist a vet in surgery, and much more. This job was selected for me because of my love for animals. I also love to learn new technical skills, work with equipment, provide information, cope with unpleasant situations, and staying organized. I am not interested in being a veterinary technician because of its ever changing work schedule, insane hours, and very low pay.…

Throughout the exhibit I saw many examples of adaptation. Under each unique display, there would be a description on how the organism would live in there habitat. One example talked about their tails, and that some were more flexible and broad, for sudden bursts of speed to attack prey or escape danger. Others would have stiff, sickle shaped tails for endurance on long journeys. Another example of adaptation is the blubber of whales and manatees. In colder these animals climates contain more blubber to keep them insulated from the cold. This exhibit made me realize the significance in adaptations and how important they are in life, without the necessary adaptations, many species could die…

Organisms adapt to their environment but what happens when an organism’s surroundings and environment change? Physiological ecology is the study and understanding of that mechanism of living organisms and how living things work. Physiological ecology arises with an understanding of the influence of temperatures. Temperature, along with others, is one of the most important factors of Physiological ecology. “Water that is available is another major focus all the organisms that contain water in environments and disburse energy.” ("Adaptation", 2013). Many ecologists studying the importance of water in biological systems focus their research on desert species. When it comes down to most organisms locating energy and nutrients they need in order to grow and successfully reproduce is the most important and is a key part on how they adapt to their environment and surroundings. “An area that physiological ecologists are really focused on is the study of environmental stressors on organisms, for an example environmental stressors may take part in climate change, nutritional variability, disease and exposure to toxic”, ("Adaptation", 2013).…

    Botany Of Desire

Webster dictionary defines adaption as a change in a plant or animal that makes it better able to live in a particular place or situation. Plants and animals alike adapt in the face of adversity in order to survive and prosper. In the Botany of Desire, Micheal Pollan uses the theme of adaption to explain how the apple, tulip, cannabis, and potato have been able to survive so many centuries and become so intertwined with the human civilization. Just like the plants Pollan examined, animals have adapted to their environments in order to survive, those unable to adapt and evolve would become extinct; however, those successful -- i.e. the human race -- would go on to be a dominant race. The ability to adapt in order to survive is the human instinct that allows individuals to prosper in difficult situations, those who are unable to adapt become the people who make up the bottom rung of society.…

Animal abuse is a topic that most people are aware of in this day and age. But to clarify this is not going to be a speech appealing to the pity of Sarah McLachlan's song during animal cruelty commercials. Believe me this topic is truly sad, but its gets worse when you look into the current problems. I will elaborate on what is currently being done. The SPCA is a very large benefactor in stopping animal abuse as many of you probably know by their numerous commercials asking for donations and public awareness but they cannot take this entire burden on their shoulders alone. The type of animal abuse I would like talk about is specific to farm animals. This is a particular topic that many people do not consider. The example i am going to use first is the life of a cow and then elaborate on chickens. A female cow on a dairy farm is repetitively impregnated, again, and again for the production of milk. Hundreds of cows residing on thousands of dairy farms across america are artificially inseminated to constantly produce milk for our consumption. After a time of nine months the cow gives birth to a calf, within hours or a day the calf is taken from the mom and transported to a veal…
