Siddhartha Mukherjee wrote the article “Do Cellphones Cause Brain Cancer?” in the New York Times Magazine on April 17th, 2011. Maukherjee is an American physician, scientist and writer. He currently is an assistant professor at Columbia University and is a physician at Columbia University Medial Center in New York, New York. Mukherjee is most known for his work with the formation of blood and the interactions between micro environment and cancer cells. They had a control group of people without brain cancer and a case group of people with brain cancer and looked at their past cellphone use. This study went for a decade and included over 5,000 people in each group. Overall, this study found little evidence for an association between brain tumors and cellphone radiation. When receiving the results they found that there was a decreased risk of brain tumors in regular cellphone users while people that rarely or never used cellphones there was a higher risk of brain cancer. This trial was attempted to be replicated by many but all studied found to be contradictory. Many studies found no association between brain cancer and cellphone use and if it did it could not be replicated or contained flaws.
