Over the past 50 years, advanced inventions have created and improved the world, and also it changed the period of time when they were created. The two creations that were created are the automobile and the phone. The automobile was created in 1908, and later appeared in Cold Sassy in the early 1900s, and everyone was surprised by this amazing creation. The phone first appeared in 1982, however, not a lot of people were able to purchase it, because of the extravagant price, but it became more accessible to people as time passed. Both of these creations have a major impact on the lives of people, because the phone revolutionizes…

The digital divide is beginning to close. The flow of digital information – through mobile phones, text messaging, and the Internet – is now reaching the world’s masses, even in the poorest countries, bringing with it a revolution in economics, politics, and society. In my opinion, the technological innovation that has had the greatest impact on our lives in this country today would be the mobile telecommunication technology. For the last ten to fifteen years, mobile phones have changed our lives in such a way that no other technological change has before. Earlier, people used to book telephone calls in advance, had to go and use near the telephone booths, or sit beside a physical telephone instrument kept in the drawing room of a house, and attend to, or make calls stuck to a place. Now, people simply carry a 200 gram device in their pockets and can travel the world, always connected to their loved ones and business partners, no matter in whatever remote part of the world they are. (However, in certain countries, mobile coverage does...…

There is much advancement we have come up with in technology. Most of the things we have come up with are how to make our old things better and newer then they were before. Ways to show how the 21st century is better than the last centuries. It always starts out as a single idea but once it’s made there is always someone who will try and make it better than how it started. Cellphones, cars, and laptops are many of the new advancements we have made better now than they were when we first came up with those ideas.…

Is society numb from hearing about one fatal accident after another that was caused by distracted driving? When I turn on the news in the morning, the two things I listen for are the weather and the traffic. While brushing my teeth, I say a silent plea that the idiot that will cause today’s major back-up has decided to take the day off. It is sad that it seems society has gone numb and is more focused on their personal comforts than to take a second look at the reasons why too many of these accidents occur in the first place. We know how bad drunk driving is and society finally did something about the issue by creating laws against it. But what laws are in place for distracted driving, more specifically cell phone use while driving?…

First I would like to talk about the history of cell phones. Now a days you see people on cell phones all the time. To see just how much things have changed in the last little while, all one has to do is pick up something as simple as a detective novel written no more than 10 or 15 years ago (SHC). Getting a hold of someone wasn’t so easy. You had to call them on their house phone and leave a message if they didn’t answer. There was also the pager, which was an electronic device that receives messages and signals the user by beeping or vibrating. If someone didn’t have a pager like in the 1980’s getting a hold of him or her while they were doing something was a difficult task if you didn’t know where they were. The idea that you could call someone's office phone and be relayed automatically to their cell phone while they're stuck in traffic on the 401 would seem like pure science fiction even to people living in the 1960s -- people who thought Star Trek's "personal communicators" were a futuristic innovation (SHC). Cell phones were a dream to many people and technological scientist. Having a device where you can talk to someone miles away in seconds wasn’t possible. Twenty-five years ago, the phone cord was cut and a revolution began (Cellphones). But the first cellular phone wasn’t made that long ago. After decades of planning and testing, the cellular phone finally emerged as a consumer product in…

    History Of Mobile Phones

Before the devices that are now referred to as mobile phones existed, there were some precursors. In 1908 a Professor Albert Jahnke and the Oakland Transcontinental Aerial Telephone and Power Company claimed to have developed a wireless telephone. They were accused of fraud and the charge was then dropped, but they do not seem to have proceeded with production. Beginning in 1918 the German railroad system tested wireless telephony on military trains between Berlin and Zossen. In 1924, public trials started with telephone connection on trains between Berlin and Hamburg. In 1925, the company Zugtelephonie A. G. was founded to supply train telephony equipment and in 1926 telephone service in trains of the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the German mail service on the route between Hamburg and Berlin was approved and offered to 1st class travellers.…

    Mobile Telephone History

This article describes how mobile telephones, for decades a near dormant technology, became the dynamic and perhaps most important communication tool of our lives. Commercial mobile telephony began in 1946. The cellular radio concept was published in 1947. But only since 1995 have mobiles become low cost, rich in features, and used world wide. We first examine mobile telephony’s early and bulky beginnings. Next, the long journey to analog cellular. Finally, full digital working, exemplified by GSM and now CDMA, providing services and features that make the mobile indispensable and ubiquitous. We’ll see how early mobile telephony battled the same problems of today: government regulation, scarce spectrum, and hardware limitations. How Scandinavian, Japanese, and United States groups independently crafted their own radio-telephone solutions. At 58, the relatively recent, spectacular success of today’s mobile telephone could hardly be guessed by its age. But its history reveals why this technology took so long to mature. And the present shows us that it was worth the wait.…
