Having been requested to review the above book pages 12 and 13 by Ann Gravells ', where she outlines in Table 1.1 “Examples of teaching roles and responsibilities”, the roles and responsibilities of a teacher. Firstly it is felt that this needs to be geared to the environment in which my involvement occurs.…
The boundaries between the teaching role and other professional roles including points of referral to meet the needs of learners…
An induction at the start of any course is required, areas I need to cover would be, emergency procedures, location of fire exits, first aid centre, fire alarm and assembly points, restaurant and toilets. I would need to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the learners by explaining any regulation such as The Working at Height Regulation and any Approved Codes of Practice etc. The classroom and practical work area needs to be a suitable environment which is comfortable to work in, the delivery and presentation of material is suitable for all levels of abilities and available. A good way to promote learning is to have discipline, agreeing acceptable boundaries can help promote discipline, discuss…

The roles and responsibilities of a teacher will differ during the teaching cycle, there are five stages to the teaching cycle starting with identifying the needs of the learner. At this stage the role of teacher could be an assessor, the responsibility of the teacher is to identify the needs of the learner and to monitor their own practice to ensure the learner needs are met.…
Codes of practice relating to own role and responsibilities. There are a range of additional support mechanisms in place that need to be organised as soon as possible in order for the students to have the highest chance of success. All of the information obtained previously has to be taken into consideration when designing the course. In order to teach effectively you must pitch it to the appropriate level.…
The main role of a teacher/trainer should be to teach in a way which engages learners and actively engage learning during every lesson irrespective of the environment. In my position as IT manager at Barnsley College there are roles and responsibilities that are set to facilitate personal and organisational goals the same can be said for teaching and learning. As a teacher/trainer I will need to be able to adapt my style of teaching by being a friend, counsellor, mentor to ensure that my learners are able to rely on me to meet their individual learning needs. To this end I have the role of assessor, most learners have different learning needs and it is my job to identify these needs as part of the teaching and learning cycle to ensure my students get the best experience of learning possible. I will need to have the skills to promote equality and diversity and inclusion in the classroom. Initial assessments will help me to identify my learners needs which could include poor hand writing, poor reading skills, or any disability that is a barrier to the individuals learning need, A diagnostic test will be carried out to identify individual learner needs and if any further support is required this will then form the root of the individual learning plan. By doing the initial and diagnostic tests this will enable me as the trainer to understand how to apply the different assessment methods to meet the needs of the individual student which in turn may increase the motivation of the student and give me the confidence to deliver the training. Assessing the learners needs skills and knowledge will help to identify any areas that may need to be referred or where advice and guidance can be given to support learners to achieve.…
As well as working with my own class teacher I can be asked at times to go and support another teacher in another class. I am expected to adapt very quickly to the other class and to the lesson there having. My role also means that I will support the children so they are confident in there journey though the school.…
My role as a teacher will be to plan and deliver learning that will not only inspire and motivate the learners but it will also develop the knowledge, vocational skills, study skills and life skills the learners will need to help them succeed. I understand that during the learning process it will be important to engage all learners as much as possible, without making any of them feel intimidated, with an inclusive approach I will be empowering the learners to meet the demands of accreditation.…
Sometimes, you need to check their progress by making phone calls or exchanging emails with them.…
My main role within the classroom is supporting the teachers in any way they require. There are two classes each with thirty children with a very wide range of academic ability. I tend to work with the less able children therefore enabling the teachers to monitor the rest of the classroom. I carry out many other tasks to assist in the classroom. Having read chapter 1 Ten titles and roles (Hancock & Colloby, 2013, p3-p12) I could relate too many of the different roles. In the discussion and conclusion where eight main categories were mentioned I noted that I carry out four of the eight. Clerical and administrative duties – I photocopy, file and also mark the children’s math’s books. Health and safety – I over see the children having their snack and I also assist in the playground. Curriculum and learning support is one of the main tasks for me as I help with literacy, maths and phonics KU1.4. Finally servicing – I tidy up the classroom and set it up ready for the next lesson. I help to apply learning goals and objectives and then discuss with the teacher the progress of the…
My role, responsibilities and boundaries are evolving qualities within training which are assessed and reflected upon using a teaching cycle, cycle of assessment, planning and review. The main role of the teacher/ trainer is to facilitate communication in such a way that all learners are encouraged to enter into a wider debate surrounding the topic they have chosen.…
The roles of a teacher include day to day paper work including the class register and the marking of students work. There is also the conduct of initial assessments which will help to identify learner’s needs, knowledge and skill, this will help keep a record of which students are doing well and also which students that are not doing as well as they should be, then those students can have the help they need to get there. As a teacher it is imperative to act like a good role model for your students, for example; Time management, always be on time for your lessons, by doing this you are already teaching your students that time keeping is important, this helps set them up with the right skills ready for further education studies or employment. Always be respectful and speak in a good manner to your students, this will show them that having a good attitude is an important part of life and its good to treat and respect people in the same way you would expect to be treat. You can be friendly with your students but make sure you never cross the professional line! Teachers are also reminded not to go beyond their role by going to learner’s home; all teaching must take place…
Describe what your role, responsibilities and relationships would be as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle…
As a teacher, one of my main roles is to motivate my learners, to develop their ability to learn also to develop my learner’s aspiration to learn. When you train to teach you read about delivering training and how to facilitating learning, but in reality you do much more than that, your role as a teacher is not just about teaching your subject or preparing learners for assessment. The focus of your role as a teacher I feel relates very much to inspiring your learners to change and develop their personal, social and professional skills to the best of their ability. My ultimate aim is to enable my learners to understand how to take responsibility for their own development. I would do this by planning and preparing teaching and learning activities that take account of the needs and well-being of individual learners as well as groups of learners.…
