Task 1
1, Explain what your main role & responsibilities are as a teacher/trainer in Education and Training (1.1)
My role as a Teacher
As a teacher, one of my main roles is to motivate my learners, to develop their ability to learn also to develop my learner’s aspiration to learn. When you train to teach you read about delivering training and how to facilitating learning, but in reality you do much more than that, your role as a teacher is not just about teaching your subject or preparing learners for assessment. The focus of your role as a teacher I feel relates very much to inspiring your learners to change and develop their personal, social and professional skills to the best of their ability. My ultimate aim is to enable my learners to understand how to take responsibility for their own development. I would do this by planning and preparing teaching and learning activities that take account of the needs and well-being of individual learners as well as groups of learners. Some key aspects of my role as a teacher may be:
Carrying out initial and/or diagnostic assessments.
Clear communication with learners, other professionals.
Promoting appropriate behaviour and respect for others.
Identifying and meeting individual learner’s needs.
Being aware of the support available.
Being organised.
Being reflective, (which means learning from successes as well as mistakes).
My responsibilities as a teacher?
As a teacher, my responsibility is to ensure that learners are enrolled onto the correct course that is suited for them and to make sure of meeting their needs and abilities, also i need to ensure that my learner is on the appropriate course in terms of meeting their award and organizational requirements. To do this you I will probably have to be responsible for the following:
Promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
Promoting equality and diversity.
Adhering to legislation and codes of practice.

Is it my responsibility as a teacher to identify the needs of my learners and what is the most effective way for them to learn. To do this I need to find out as much as I can about them in the first stage of the teaching and learning cycle (identifying needs & planning) if they require any additional aids in class, if they have any disabilities such as ADHD, autism or dyslexia, what current level of skills and knowledge they have. I would, if possible, find this information out prior to the class commencing and discuss with the learners any ways in which I can assist them, I could then prepare an individual lesson plan for the leaner. It is my responsibility to make sure I have set the right programme for my learners, that they won’t find assignments to hard or above their current levels of knowledge. I also need to make sure that I follow…

The main role of a teacher/trainer should be to teach in a way which engages learners and actively engage learning during every lesson irrespective of the environment. In my position as IT manager at Barnsley College there are roles and responsibilities that are set to facilitate personal and organisational goals the same can be said for teaching and learning. As a teacher/trainer I will need to be able to adapt my style of teaching by being a friend, counsellor, mentor to ensure that my learners are able to rely on me to meet their individual learning needs. To this end I have the role of assessor, most learners have different learning needs and it is my job to identify these needs as part of the teaching and learning cycle to ensure my students get the best experience of learning possible. I will need to have the skills to promote equality and diversity and inclusion in the classroom. Initial assessments will help me to identify my learners needs which could include poor hand writing, poor reading skills, or any disability that is a barrier to the individuals learning need, A diagnostic test will be carried out to identify individual learner needs and if any further support is required this will then form the root of the individual learning plan. By doing the initial and diagnostic tests this will enable me as the trainer to understand how to apply the different assessment methods to meet the needs of the individual student which in turn may increase the motivation of the student and give me the confidence to deliver the training. Assessing the learners needs skills and knowledge will help to identify any areas that may need to be referred or where advice and guidance can be given to support learners to achieve.…

These roles and responsibilities are vital to ensure that both governmental and organizational aims and objectives are met to an agreed standard. Roles can be defined as activities or actions required from a person or group and responsibilities are the obligations required to complete these activities to a successful conclusion. Teachers today are obliged to adapt and adopt new practices to involve all learners and that their most important task is to make themselves familiar with their learners as individuals in order to understand their wide range of needs, learning styles, social and cultural background, interests and abilities. The teaching profession is subject to a great deal of legislation and there are many targets that must be met in order for an establishment to be considered a success. It is the responsibility of the individual teacher to ensure that they follow the job role laid out by the learning establishment that they work for as well as fulfilling the expectations of the learners that they are working with. The LLUK document ‘Defining teacher roles and responsibilities in the further education sector in England’ (2008) lays out the different roles and responsibilities of a teacher in further education very clearly and was produced specifically to ensure clearer standards for trainee teachers to demonstrate in relation to the roles of teachers, trainers,…

In my role as a teacher I believe I am passing on my many years experience and practical skills , to achieve this I have to take on many roles, my learners will have undergone an initial assessment on induction and I have to remember at all times that my learners will be a diverse group and they should all be treated as individuals, my methods of teaching will have to vary from time to time to take this into account , if I have a hard of hearing student for example I may have to stand so they can see my mouth in order to lip read or give them a lot of written handouts , a student lacking in numeric skills would need extra help with measurements and basic maths this can be achieved during the practical sessions as part of the assignments which invole 1:1 discussions and feedback, that way students will hopefully learn without…

I shall now try toexplain the roles and responsibilities by reading and extracting information from page 73 /74 of the work booklet. I believe the key purpose of being a teacheris to be able to create a safe, fun yet hard working environment to give all students the oppertunity to excel in there individual learning programme 1)“ Professional values and practice” this explains the values which teachers in the lifelong learning sector should meet or exceed in to achieve their responsibility to me the following value shows how a teacher has the responsibility to ensure all learners are learning as a whole thus ensuring all are learning at the same pace knowing all they need to know to succeed. 2)“learning and teaching” to me there are so many different responsibilities with regards to learning and teaching forexample progression, development, goals and aspirations of all which will endeavour to enhance the experiences they bring to learning. 3) “specialist learning and teaching” when completing an Apprenticeship a strict framework is to be adhered to, we as teachers must ensure all aspects of the framework are to be covered and to achieve this I believe I must ensure I am upto date with the current teachings in my trade in order to be current and thus making up part of my continous planned development 4) “planning for learning” which to me is an imperitive part of teaching which in my profession is very important as one wrong learning or misunderstanding can lead to serious harm or even death but I understand that these teachings may require special attention to detail and covering equality and diversity effectively 5) “assessment for learning” I believe you must be willing to carry out consecutive assessments so as to see where learners are and where they should/ could be in future months thus ensuring everyone within the organisation can see the progress of students 6) “ access and progression” this to me says we must have sufficient information and advice/ guidance to support a learners needs and also make learners aware of various in house services which may be available to them summarising: I believe there are many factors which lead to being a successful teacher, you need to be a very broad minded and self sufficient person, who needs to be patient and understanding to whatever task/obstacle is put in front of them you need to be aware of constantly changing rules, regulations and criteria surrounding your specialist subject.…
