Personal Narrative: My Experience As A Leader
Throughout my life so far, there have been events in which I have lead others. In these events, my leading methods have varied. One experience I have had leading others happened when I took karate throughout my child years.
When I took karate, I would advance through belts quickly and efficiently. While doing so, I displayed the traits of a leader; focused, hard-working, and constantly working towards one goal. As I progressed, I was given the permission to lead the class in warm up exercises. I used this opportunity to push the students and make them stronger, even though it came with complaints. I would also mentor the students and fine-tune their technique. Currently, I hold the leadership position of band captain in the marching band.

    In chapter 12, the key event to me was when Claudia and Finn talked to each other through the keys. I felt many emotions when reading their interaction one of them being happy. I felt happy when they talked to each other because it was a turning point in the story in my opinion. I also felt surprised because at first, I thought by having two keys, there would be a lock that would need both keys to hear and speak to each other. I also felt confused by the way they conversed; How could they now hear each other but not before.     I am a great leader and throughout my high school career I have taken every opportunity I could to display this. For three out of my four years I have participated as a Muskoka Woods Leader. This required me to spend a week at a summer camp at which I would lead a group of grade 7s through a series of fun activities. Being a leader at this camp wasn't always fun and games though. I had encountered many situations with the grade 7s in which I would have to improvise and apply my knowledge of leadership to sort out. For example, during one of our games we would play, there was a little boy who was sitting off on the side not participating. I went over to talk to the boy to find out what was wrong. When I found out that he didn't understand how to play the game I knew exactly how to fix it. I brought him over to a corner and me and him played our own little one on one version of the game.
