At the present time, education is a very important and necessary thing. Most people make an effort to gain high education in order to get good chances and have a better life. Some people prefer to continue their studies locally, while many others choose to study abroad. There is no wrong choices. Study local or abroad, both have its own advantages and disadvantages. It has becomes a popular trend among the community to send their children to study overseas as for them our local universities do not have the international quality of education and poor in facilities. But, this perspective is not all correct. First of all, this is because our local universities have improved tremendously from year to year. Moreover, Malaysia has been awarded as the education hub for higher learning which has countless of public and private universities with many foreign students. This shows that the foreigners trust our quality of education more than ourselves. This can be proved by the article reported by R.S.Kamini in the “New Sunday Times” newspaper on December 23,2012 that claimed University Technology Petronas(UTP) had been given 5-star rating. This is due to the fact that UTP was assessed for its researched and innovation achievement from eight different perspectives, which are Quantity & Quality of Researchers, Quantity & Quality of Research , Quantity of Postgraduates, Quality of Postgraduates, Innovations, Profesional Services & Gifts and Networking & Linkages. Next, local universities also provided the qualified lecturers including lecturers who from overseas. All the lecturers are hired based on their experiences which must be at least 5 years in education field. Furthermore, most of the academic programs are received full accreditation from Malaysian Qualifications Agency who formerly known as National Accreditation Council. Thus, our local universities actually have the capability in producing many successful students like doctors, teachers, bankers, lawyers, architects, and others.

Studying abroad, also give a lot of advantages to the students. Such as, studying abroad helps people improve their foreign language whereas studying locally does not. When people go to study abroad, they have to use foreign language all the time to communicate with other people. From this point, it will help people improve their language skills such as pronunciation, conversational skill, and writing skill. These are very important because second language skills give people a better chance of a job. On the other hand, people, who study locally, still use their native language. There is no factor to pressure them to use foreign language, so their skills are not improved as much as people who study abroad. Based on what Erin E. Sullivan (2010) had stated that studying abroad will change on a personal level whether one realize it or not. One will develop a greater self-confidence, independence, and self-reliance. Studying abroad may effect all one personal such as unfamiliar surroundings and different friends. It is not always easy to get to familiar environment for a short of period of time

By studying abroad obviously give resume that nice boost and improves post- graduate employment prospects. Nowadays, employers always seek collage graduate who have spent time studying abroad as they want employees with an international knowledge base as well as foreign language skills. Some skills for marketable for employment include cross-cultural communication skills, analytical skills, teamwork, flexibility, an understanding of cultural contexts, the ability to adapt to new circumstances and deal with differences, a developed view of the world outside.

In short, study abroad or local universities both have its own pros and cons. Some people may choose to study in the either one university based on their choice with a very strong reason. Thus, this study will show which university is majorly preferable by the student of KMPh....
