1. What is meant by diversity?

Diversity means difference and varied. Diversity recognises that even though people have things in common, they are still different in many other ways. Diversity is about respecting those differences and moving forward together.

2. Describe the community you live in. Highlight some of the variations you may observe in terms of: * Interests * Beliefs * Ages * Lifestyles * Personal, social and cultural identities.

The community I live in is extremely diverse and united. Many people have many different interests but these interests also bring the community together, for example, an interest in sport means that many people will watch teams such as the Batley Bulldogs together and find that this brings them together. My community is also very rich in culture and religion. Many people believe in Islam and are Muslims in my community. This is something that brings the community together, especially when religious observances occur as the community spends a lot of time in the local Mosque. Within my community there are many groups and clubs set up for different age groups i.e playgroup, cubs, and scouts. We have many clubs for the younger generation to enjoy.
