Deadweight Tester Lab Report
INTRODUCTION
Deadweight testers are used as a for accurate measurement to calibrate pressure gauges, transmitters, transducers, recorders and controllers. Deadweight testers are very accurate, they produce pressure by applying force using calibrated stainless steel or brass weights over a predetermined area.
There are numerous models available to meet specific applications. A typical deadweight tester consists self-contained pump for the generation of pressure, they also include a piston, cylinder, table, weights, associated plumbing, and an oil reservoir. The weights are double-stamped; the smaller number representing the pressure produced on the low-pressure piston. Objective
Use a Deadweight tester attached to a gas meter to measure

In our lab the accuracy is only given for two readings, because one of the weights would drop all the way to the bottom then the other one wouldn’t drop at all.

Questions
If the piston of the deadweight tester has a diameter of 0.188in, how much force in ounces should the weight apply to the area defined by this diameter, to produce the pressure of 1 psi. R= 0.094in, A=π 〖0.094in〗^2 = 〖0.2737in〗^2 so Pressure × Area=Force lbf × (16 oz)/(1 lb)=4.38 ozf

The system is operating at a pressure of 200 psi, this pressure is acting on an area of 1.00 square feet. How much force in tons are created in this application of hydraulics?
〖ft〗^2=144 〖in〗^2, 200 psi × 144 〖in〗^2=28800 lbf, 28800 lbf × (1 ton)/(2,000 lb)=14.4 tonf

If a force of 10 pounds produces a system pressure of 300 psi, what is the diameter of the piston through which this force is acting on.
Area= (10 lbf)/(300 psi)=0.03333 〖in〗^2, d= √((0.03333

Atmospheric pressure is absolute pressure or about 14.7 Measurement PSIA. 0 PSIA would be a perfect vacuum.

ACTUAL PRESSURE - The pressure measured by a gauge or generated by a tester.

BACKGROUND, LINE, OR STATIC PRESSURE - The magnitude or pressure in a differential pressure gauge, or transmitter PSIG, but the differential pressure may only be 1 PSID. This means that one side of the device could be 3000 PSIG and the other side at 3001
