Business Case Study: Glasscock Jewelry Corner
Barry Glasscock was introduced into the jewelry business at a young age working at Frederick Jewelry for his Great Aunt and after college he found an evolving interesting in the world of jewelry. He found a spot in Clinton where he is today, it was originally called Lineberger Jewelry and as the owner was getting ready to retire Barry bought the business from him. Glasscock Jewelry Corner is a high-end jewelry store with two locations. The Clinton location has been in business for more than thirty years opening in 1983 with their Warrensburg location being in business for 10 years. Barry is the owner of Glasscock Jewelry Corner in Clinton and Warrensburg Missouri. Barry Glasscock was interviewed on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015, at 3:25pm. Due to it being such a small business there are always challenges of paying the right amount or providing the best benefits. They counterbalance this constant struggle with flexible schedules and days off. However, this does not mean they are easy with training. They often close down both locations for training. They also bring in people from throughout the United States to train the workers at Glasscock Jewelry Corner. They recently bought a diamond expert from Colorado and closed down both shops to do an all-day training conference.
Glasscock Jewelry Corner has a unique marketing strategy in terms of competitive advantage. Glasscock Jewelry Corners main competitor is the jewelry stores in the big city such as Jared or Kay Jewelers so they had to figure out how to bring people into their store. With a wide selection and buying straight from the markets with the newest designs keeps them in the game. They are constantly working with different demographics to see how they can target and sell to those

    Corning Inc. got its start in the mid 19th century as a top producer of glass.
