Alkaline Phosphatase was isolated using various techniques. BCIP spot test was performed after the anion exchange chromatography was done and the fractions were collected. The picture of BCIP spot test of the 20 fractions can be seen in figure 1. The intensity of each spot was different from each other. The more intense color the spot was‚ the more concentrate the AP was. The fractions were chosen to combine together based on the intensity‚ which made the stage 4 enzyme. Different volumes in each

Figure 1: Titration curve of 0.160 grams of an unknown diprotic acid that was dissociated in distilled water. Shown is the pH versus the volume in milliliters of 0.1 M NaOH‚ a strong base‚ added to the solution. The initial pH reading of the solution was a pH of 2.60. Although the pH of the ½ equivalence point was unknown‚ it could be estimated by halving the volume of NaOH used at the first equivalence point. At the first equivalence point‚ 13.63 milliliters of NaOH had been added to the unknown

Conclusion: It was apparent that the goal of the lab was to determine the molarity of NaOH through separate trials using bromothymol blue as the indicator. It was expected for the results to conclude that the molarity of NaOH is 0.50M. For trial 1‚ 0.50M of NaOH was calculated‚ in trial 2 it was a 0.28M of NaOH and trial 3’s results concluded with 0.54M of NaOH. The results of trial 1 and 3 resemble the most similar and consistent to the expected results of the experiment. Discussion of Theory:

Last month‚ I and my group decided to pick "Pineapple skin extract as soap" as our I.P title yet we are unaware of the things that might come our way. We are planning to conduct an experiment tomorrow using the procedures that we guess will work.We have separate procedures for our ingredients: For our pineapple skin extract 1)Cut the pineapple skin into one-inch squares with a sharp knife. 2)Put the pineapple skins in a pot. Add water until the skins are barely covered. 3)Cover the pot with

Enthalpy of Neutralization Introduction Energy changes always accompany chemical reactions. If energy‚ in the form of heat‚ is liberated the reaction is exothermic and if energy is absorbed the reaction is endothermic. Thermochemistry is concerned with the measurement of the amount of heat evolved or absorbed. The heat (or enthalpy) of neutralization (∆H) is the heat evolved when an acid and a base react to form a salt plus water. Eq. 1 HNO2(aq) + NAOH(aq) → NaNO2(aq) + H2O(l) + Q Q in the

Description Whenever we do experiments‚ the actual result is a little different from the result we predicted. In chemistry‚ this discrepancy is compared by calculating the percent yield. In this lesson‚ we will define percent yield‚ and go over a few examples. !!!What is Percent Yield? Sometimes you look at a recipe and it says how many servings it will make if you follow the amounts listed on there. There are times‚ however‚ that the number of servings after you have made the food is not the

1. Start off by weighing two paracetamol tablets using some accurate scales. Record the mass down (1.15g). This had to be as accurate and precise as we could get it so we had the correct weight to start the experiment. Without this then the results we found at the end would not be accurate. A problem that could be faced with this is that the scales may not have been fully set to zero. Also it takes time for it to fully reach its weight on the reading so you may move them too quick before the right

Gd2O3 nanopowders doped with different concentrations of Er3+ and Yb3+ were synthesized using the combustion method. The starting reagents‚ Gd(NO3)3 6H2O‚ Er(NO3)3 5H2O‚ Yb(NO3)3 xH2O and NH2CH2COOH (glycine)‚ which was used as a fuel in reaction‚ of an analytical grade were purchased from Sigma Aldrich and Alfa Aesar. The ratio of glycine to nitrate was kept as 0.56 [31‚ 32]. The appropriate amounts of the starting reagents were dissolved in a minimum amount of deionized water. The solution was

Hand Washing Experiment Outline I. Introduction a. This lab was conducted in order to understand and apply the scientific method. The experiment tested the effectiveness of reducing microorganism (bacteria) with the use of various hand soaps. b. Hypothesis: If the Harris Teeter Foaming Hand Soap is more effective in reducing bacterial growth than the Soft Soap hand soap‚ then there will be less bacterial/microorganism growth present on the agar plate for the Harris Teeter Foaming

2. Procedure 2.1: Experimental Prep and Optimum wavelength Selection An ionic Iron solution with a known concentration of 4.047x10-3 M was obtained. A 250-mL sample of a 10-fold dilution of this ionic iron solution and 5 drops of concentrated HNO3 was made. This solution served as the source of ionic Iron for the remainder of the lab and was labeled “stock ionic Iron solution.” Next‚ a 50-mL aqueous ionic Iron and FerroZine® complex solution was prepared by adding 5.00mL stock ionic Iron‚ 3-mL of
