Quality of Work Life (QWL) is a philosophy, a set of principles which holds that people are the most important resource in the organization as they are trustworthy, responsible and capable of making valuable contribution and they should be treated with dignity and respect [1]. The elements that are relevant to an individual’s quality of work life include the task, the physical work environment, social environment within the organization, administrative system and relationship between life on and off the job. The evolution of QWL began in late 1960s emphasizing the human dimensions of work by focusing on the quality of the relationship between the worker and the working environment.
The term QWL was first began in the U.S. in September 1972 when the phrase was coined at a “democratization of work” conference held at Columbia University’s Arden House to discuss two movements. The first was a political movement in Western Europe called ‘Industrial Democracy’. Militant, socialist labor unions were lobbying the parliaments and assemblies of England, France, West Germany, Sweden and Italy to legislate worker participation in corporate decision making. The second movement was the emergence in the U.S. of number of social science theories about “humanizing the workplace” [2]. This shows that the model that evolved during the early years called for formalizing labor-management cooperation at the workplace by establishing joint committees at various levels to define, diagnose and devise solutions to day-to-day work problems. Participation programs emerged from contract bargaining between General Motors Corporation and United Auto Workers Union was called Quality of Work Life in 1973 which was aimed at increasing workers’ satisfaction with their jobs by giving them more information and a voice in decision-making [3].
Although difficult to conceptualize, Walton proposed eight major conceptual categories relating to QWL as : (1) adequate and fair compensation, (2) safe and

All children are required to graduate high school, but pursuing higher education is only recommended. While high school curriculum is designed to prepare students for higher education, students learn essential career readiness skills while enrolling in higher education classes. Since students are not obliged to pursue higher education, many students who decide not to continue their education lack the skills necessary for future careers. While some schools hope to implement career readiness for either all their students or for only the students who do not wish to pursue college, other schools do not want to offer career readiness programs as they believe that it offers incentives for students not to attend college. Schools should require all students to take career readiness classes as…

The career that I have literally chosen is the automotive service technician and mechanics career. The reason why I chose this career it’s because… Well actually I have plenty and many reasons to choose from because I am very passionate about this career and I have lived through it my entire life. One reason is that Auto Mechanics is because to me it’s an interesting field to me. I decided to explore the topic a little more to get a better understanding of what it would take to become a successful automotive technician . I have lived through the auto mechanics field pretty much all through my life. Well actually since I have been born. The reason of this is very simple. That is because my very own dad is an auto mechanic himself. Well actually to be more exact, he owns his own auto mechanic shop. Since I was little I have always helped him at his work because I have always enjoyed working with vehicles. Since the very first day that I started working with him I already knew that the automotive field was the job for me. Since I was a baby my very own parents use to tell me that I would disappear out of their sight. And when they used to find me I used to be playing with the tools besides my dad helping him out. I have pretty much made my mind up about actually going further in this career. Not only because I actually enjoy doing that job but also because of the pay check that you receive. Well actually that is a bonus in it. It does matter to me the money that you earn in it but not as much as I like doing the activity of interacting and working with automobiles. I have faith in me that one day I am not only going to fix cars, but I am also going to own my own shop myself.…

What is a career? A career is a central part of an individual’s journey through his or her life. As a person, we may think back and see how much we have accomplished in our life. This journey goes back to when we were in our early school days and to where we currently are today, is our career so far. And as the years goes by we will see our career move on, often in unforeseeable directions. We've all hit that point where we can't figure out exactly what we really want to do with our lives. It can come whenever, and it's a hard process to go through.. Deciding on a certain career has been difficult and very challenging. Going through elementary school and middle school and deciding what career path way I should take, the first two that caught my attention were anesthesiologist and general surgeon. As a child, I never thought that I would want to go to these fields. As a student, I sometimes have my ups and downs in school but that doesn’t stop me from doing what I love. In my opinion school is like the next level of a game and I must do my best to beat that level. Sometimes it’s tough but I’ll manage somehow. Preparing to become an anesthesiologist begins in high school. Since university or college focuses on classes in premed, some recommends getting a head start taking science classes in high school. Biology and chemistry classes will provide you with the knowledge required to be successful. I still don’t know which of the two careers I should decide on. Luckily, the two careers matched closely to my personality type.…

Ever since my first science class I knew I had a passion for biology. I would stay inside during recess and after school, absorbing all of the information I could gather about organisms from books and in the lab. I was enthralled and passionate about the world beyond my microscope and as I grew older, my interest flourished. When I participated in my first dissection in High School I became even more captivated by biology and realized that I wanted to pursue a career in the field. Originally, being a coroner had not appealed to me. It seemed more shallow and cold than accurate and cutting edge. Yet through research, I was able to get more of an understanding of the career of a Medical Examiner.…
