Capstone Reflection Essay Example
Greetings MBA Students! Several of you have requested more information on the "reflection paper" so I am providing more explicit instructions below: 1. The paper should be 3-5 pages long, double-spaced, 1-inch margins all around, 11-pt Times New Roman font. (I won’t be a stickler on these details). 2.There is no single "right" content expected for the reflection paper; that is, different people can be expected to reflect uniquely on the simulation experience. Just think about your simulation experience for a while and then write about what stands out to you. 3. You should keep in mind that this is a capstone/strategy class; accordingly, your "reflections" may address strategic (rare, consequential, directive) issues, as well as varied authors, topics, and business functions. 4. It is appropriate for you to reflect on the simulation in relation to the MBA 5900 course overall, your MBA program overall, your other MBA courses specifically, your work and career experiences past, present and future, and other relevant constructs such as leadership, ethics, global competition, and political/legal/environmental/technological/demographic/diversity/productivity issues. 5. There are many aspects of the simulation about which you might reflect, including the decisions made, group processes, how decisions were made, reacting and adapting to simulation results, effectiveness of strategies employed, etc. You may also find particular topics (e.g. leverage, inventory management, labor issues, marketing, financing, product development, etc.) interesting or interconnected. 6. Please personalize your thoughts and reactions rather than producing generic responses. Be thoughtful, contemplative and "reflective". How would you characterize your experience participating in the simulation? What did you take from the simulation that will affect or benefit you in work and life? Why? What did you come to understand better as a result of participating in the

The first situation the simulation provided me with was a successful brand that is facing declining sales. My recommendation was to focus on Lifestyle, Quality Engineering, Coolness and Price. My results from this were good, but could have been better if instead of focusing on coolness, I 'd chosen to focus on service instead. This would have allowed me to optimally position the product.…

We’re giving a scenario and we have to pick the right choice that will create the most value to the customers. The next exercise was the “case study” and we had to watch a video to answer the questions but I couldn't access the video therefore, I had to skip this exercise. The last exercise was the expected learning outcome, where we are asked questions based on the exercises we had. For example, one questions asked “ Explain the concept of marketing and it's important” and another question asked “Describe the marketing process” It was a good exercise it refresh our memory because sometimes we tend to forget the things we’ve read. . In my opinion, all the topics that were covered in the activity were very much helpful. My favorite topic had to be the creating value because for someone who want to start a business, needs to understand the needs of their…

When the simulation was first assigned, I really had no idea what to expect. I assumed that my group members and I would be creating various written documents, which was clearly not the case. After selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we began the simulation.…

It is important that you establish with your assessor exactly what you need to include in your reflection as it will be difficult to do otherwise. Your assessor will not simply ask you to write a reflective account around, for example, Hsc 027 as this unit consists of nine outcomes. Your assessor will ask you to write a reflective account on how you implement security measures in the work setting with regards visitors to the building, which is outcome eight. This suggests that a reflective account could be written for any unit within the diploma or any outcomes within a unit, to prove you are aware of and know what to do in particular situations and also the reasons why you are doing it in a certain way, which should be in line with your organisational policies and procedures…

For my finial reflection I have decided to reflect on the reflective practice itself and my abilities to practice reflection, as it appears I am having some issues with the process. After receiving an A- on my last reflection, I spoke with my Faculty Advisor (FA) with the intention of discovering why I was not achieving marks in the A+ range on my reflections, and what I need to work on to improve on the quality of my reflections. Her feedback was that I was too broad in my approach; I spend too much time discussing the event and did not go into enough depth in my reflective analysis. I hope and anticipate that this reflection will be better; as I hope to demonstrate a deeper analysis of the issue and techniques I can use to improve my skills.…

After trialling a few models of reflection, I eventually settled on Gibbs' (1988) model (refer to figure 1). I find this a simple and easy to use model and it suited my personal style of learning. However, reflection often reveals shortcomings and it has potential to leave the practitioner feeling insecure and demotivated. Yet O'Callaghan's (2005) reflective writing…

For the purpose of my reflection I have chosen to use Gibbs (1988) Model of Reflection. More commonly used in the healthcare profession I have chosen Gibbs because I find this model simple, clear and precise helping me to stay focused and make sense of my experience. Also as it includes action planning it has helped me examine my actions in a way that perhaps they can be improved. I have also chosen to reflect separately on the planning of the Team Teach and the Team Teach presentation.…
