A World Without Conflict

Our society is full of battles with malevolence. A world without conflicts and hostility is unnatural, because human beings are not able to live harmoniously and peacefully, we fight to survive, and we are simply just imperfect. Where there are people, there’s war.

Human beings aren’t able to live harmoniously and peacefully. We are born as selfish and greedy creatures, leaching off each other in secret. Proud, inconsiderate, and rebellious traits barely describe our inner selves. We are always jealous and dishonest to others. Never did we appreciate one another’s presence. Just because of these characteristics we possess, we know not to trust each other too much in any circumstance. No one wants to be backstabbed. Some only give faith and create steady relationships with each other so they can take advantage of them. And because we are individuals, we think differently. We have our own thoughts, and we are stubborn for them. It’s impossible for us, self-absorbed people, to compromise fairly of our wants and needs. There’s no way we can live together without a punch in the stomach and a kick in the face.

It’s true: only the fittest survive in this cruel world. All living things have an instinct to survive. No deer walks into the mouth of a lion. Their mothers probably didn’t teach them that. We didn’t need to be taught how to grasp for life; we knew how to breathe even in our mother’s womb. In order for us to keep breathing, we transform ourselves to fit our needs. We learn to create and take in objects of value—money, for example—in exchange for food and other necessities. We even reconstructed the environment so we can have enough space to proliferate. We made houses, cars, wheelchairs just so we can live more comfortably. Human beings are highly intelligent; meaning the fight for survival will only be more gruesome.

The imperfection of this world only weighs down this topic even more. Nothing is perfect in the society. Also, the impurity cannot be erased. Imperfection can’t be polished for improvement no matter how hard we try to progress against our shortcomings. There are flaws in this world, without exception. Someone is always better than you are, and another would even exceed that ‘someone’. If a world without conflicts and hostility is perfect, then it can never exist. Perfection is beyond our capability.

The idea of imperfection and our hunger for survival contradicts with harmony and peace. A world cannot be imagined without conflicts and hostility. It is a part of us that we have to learn to accept.
