A Life Without Rules
Throughout history we constantly try to break away from society's norm, in an attempt at living a fuller life. It seems as though it is almost human nature for there to be that one person to break free and really challenge the norm. Laws and their implementation determines the success of a society. So what would happen if society simply broke away from its rules and regulations and conformity was lost: orange polka-dot houses, no landscape maintenance , and animals running a muck. Could success still prevail? With the humans... that seems close to impossible. Society could not run smoothly with out conformity it simply would not work, this is the reason we have rules and regulation, and a leader to implement them. Imagine the chaos that the world would constantly be in if we didn't have certain standards or laws that there were consequences for. For instance, Murder, there is severe punishment for such a crime in the conform society that we live in never mind if it weren't frowned upon. People would kill anyone they came in contact with that made them anger. Like this, many other crimes would increase if it weren't for compliance of basic expectations. People would drive 95 mph in neighborhoods, take whatever they wanted, and hurt whoever they please. How can anyone better themselves in an environment where someone just takes all their hard earned money, or people fear walking outside their home because they might be run over or stabbed by an angry person. According to Maslow's heirarchy of needs we have certain needs that must be met in order to reach a level of success, and in that heirarchy saftey and security is one of them, and in a society of non-conformity it is impossible to feel safe nor secure. Rules are made because at some point things weren't working as smoothly without them in place. How civilized will the society that we live in be if we act like animals.
