A Burning House Essay
Burning House Essay If my house were to burn down, I would try to save as many valuable things that I could. If I were to only be able to save ten things, I would save the things that mean most to me. The very first thing that I would get would be my photo albums. They are full of pictures that were taken from when I was a little girl, all the way up until now. Each picture has meaning to me, and I would be very upset if I were to lose them. Whenever I look at them, they remind me of the times I had when I was just an innocent little girl, learning how to have fun. My memories are worth defending and protecting until death, because they define who I am and without my memories, then who am I? The second thing that I would take would be my drawings because I worked very hard on them. Each drawing allowed me to express my feelings when I had no where else to turn. I spend a long time, sometimes even months working on a single drawing. After I got all my drawings, I would get all the jewelry I have because I have a lot of it. Every Christmas, my Aunt would give me necklaces, earrings and bracelets. I put them in a box and save all of it, even if I don’t wear it anymore. All the jewelry means a lot to me, and it would be a shame if it was ruined in a fire. My fourth choice of something I would save from my burning house would be my street sign. In the summer, I was walking around with my friend and we came across it laying on the ground with the pole. Curious we went over there, and the man replacing it gave it to us because he was getting a replacement for it. Everytime I see the street sign, it reminds me of that day in the summer that I spent at the beach, then went to a party and hung out with all my friends. It was a really fun day, and I got something to remind me of it every day. My fifth choice would be my very first soccer trophy. I wasn’t very good at soccer, but after I won that trophy, I worked very hard to improve. After I got my soccer trophy, I

Anne Bradstreet-in “The Burning of Our House,” Anne was the narrator of this poem in which she expressed how she felt when her home caught fire. The Entire poem was based on Anne’s emotional state during her time of despair and how her faith helped her through. As I read through the poem I noticed that she spoke of her religious beliefs and her relationship with God throughout the poem. “And to my God my heart did cry,” (8). In order to understand and relate to this poem the reader must have some form of religious belief. Anne spoke on how God took away her material items, but her faith helped her comprehend and understand that they never belonged to her in the beginning. “I blest His name that gave and took,” (14). God can…

Determining whether the God you praise and worship is choleric because of your presence by the sins you’ve created is a never ending battle in the 17th-18th centuries. Upon the Burning of Our House is a poem, with nine stanzas, written by Anne Bradstreet explaining her understanding and able to live and learn from sin with God. Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is a work, written as a sermon, by Jonathan Edwards who preaches to all the non-Puritan sinners, that if they don’t convert and take blame for their sins, God’s anger toward them will be unbearable and force them to the pits of hell. Analyzing Bradstreet’s and Edwards’ works, a reader can distinguish the personality of the two writers and the different views of God that people acquire.…

Most of the world recognizes Daesh, (more commonly, but inappropriately referred to as ISIS; Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), because of their extreme beliefs, and brutality expressed towards anyone who has differing views from themselves. Daesh has roughly 10,000 fighters, and aims to completely eliminate religions that aren’t their own (Greenfield, 2016). Unfortunately, we have failed to realize that some of Daesh’s actions are more dangerous than they appear. An uninformed American might view a video of Daesh’s members knocking over a statue in the Mosul Museum and feel little concern. “It’s just a statue, right? At least they weren’t hurting a person this time. At least this isn’t happening in America”, one might think. Daesh has been destroying ancient artifacts in archaeological sites, museums, shrines, and holy places (Harmansah, 2016). One thousand eight hundred…

I also carry something like a collar somewhat silvered, which is a present from my second brother, Marco, who is living in Peru. That collar reminds me to my brother because it belonged to him. He had earned it in his school; because of he obtained one of the first places in the honor roll. But what reminds me most about my family, are the pictures I carry in my wallet. I carry memories, memories of people who I loved and love, memories of places that I will never forget as the old left house where I went with my friends of my childhood to play and to tell stories about the ghosts that lived in that house. Sometimes when I am lonely or feel very bad. I take my pictures out from my wallet and try to remember those beautiful times when I enjoyed the company of my dear beings. Those times that will never come back. It is…
