WHAT IS THE GRADUATING GROUP’S UNDERSTANDING ABOUT DEVELOPMENT?
Our group have defined development as follows;
It is about growth and advance for the betterment of an individual, a group, an organization or a nation.
DEVELOPMENT does not only involve economic growth, although that is crucial. it is also about human development and sustainable development.
Human Development describes the growth of humans throughout the lifespan, from conception to death. Human development seeks to understand and explain how and why people change throughout life. This includes all aspects of human growth, including physical, emotional, intellectual, social, perceptual, and personality development. By better understanding how and why people change and grow, we can then apply this knowledge to live up to their full potential. Human Development Indexes are used by the United Nations Development Program to rank countries according to its combined statistics of life expectancy (health), education, and income
Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It contains within it two key concepts: the concept of needs, in particular the essential needs of the world's poor, to which overriding priority should be given; and the idea of limitations imposed by the state of technology and social organization on the environment's ability to meet present and future needs."
WHAT IS MY GROUP’S UNDERSTANDING OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE PHILIPPINES?
Developed countries have post-industrial economies, meaning the service sector provides more wealth than the industrial sector. They are contrasted with developing countries, which are in the process of industrialization, or undeveloped countries, which are pre-industrial and almost entirely agrarian. The Philippines is still in the process of development.
