And of course both are important – without management, you don’t do things right, and without leadership, you end up not doing the right thing.
But if I had to choose, I’d say management is more important than leadership. Without leadership, teams and organisations slowly wither and die as they become increasingly irrelevant in a changing world. But without management, teams and organisations collapse in a matter of days, because nothing is being delivered right now.
Of course both are important – but don’t neglect good management just because great leadership sounds more exciting.
