Why I Want To Study PSAT
Hello, I am freshman at Chagrin Falls High School named Molly Sobota. Currently, my sister has just entered the world of college applications/decisions as junior in highschool, which made me start to think about my future after high school.
From the beginning of 5th grade, the medical field has interested me greatly; therefore, I began my search with some of the most medically centered, compatible schools. As I worked my through the list of 2016 Best Colleges With Pre-Medicine Degrees, the University of Notre Dame caught my eye. Although I continued to file through other suitable colleges, none gave me the same distinctly mystifying pull as the University of Notre Dame. Through detailed research, the reason for compelling attraction became

For instance, I have downloaded the Ready4PSAT app, which gives me a daily reading, writing, or math practice question, a word of the day, practice tests, and an in depth explanation about each topic on the test. By taking advantage of and staying committed to this tool, I hope to bring my sophomore PSAT scores up into the mid 600s. Eventually, by my junior year I confidently believe that my PSAT score will reach the 700s. Overall, this preparation for the PSAT will benefit my chances of receiving a place on the highly sought-after Merit roll. Additionally, these steps I intend on following very diligently will sequentially make my SAT scores thrive. Moving on, through the first semester and into the third quarter of my freshman year, I maintained all As resulting in a GPA of a 4.3. In addition, I enjoy my enrolled classes of French ll, AP World History, G.Y.M, Honors 9 English, Biology, Honors Geometry, and Concert/Marching band. As a result of my work in these present courses, my teachers have recommended me for AP Seminar, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Chemistry, AP US History, and French lll. Over the entirety of my highschool career, I intend on soaking up every opportunity my school will provide. For example, by receiving a 3 or above on 4 AP tests, including AP Seminar and AP research, I plan on getting the Capstone diploma. Furthermore, I have formulated a path to obtain enough credits to graduate on the High Honor Roll. Lastly, I will hopefully earn the title of rotary student of the month during my junior/senior

“You’re transferring schools, Karina!”, my mother exclaimed a week before my sophomore year. Ultimately, this was the last thing I wanted to hear. I kept trying to decipher whether the news was good or bad. Moving to a Medical Magnet school smelled like defeat, and I was not fond of change. Public school was my forte. I was adapted to crowded lunch rooms, lively classes, and having classes such as art, band, up to ROTC. I wasn’t aware of it at the time, but there was something hidden behind my personal chaos. Overall, this life-altering experience is what shaped me into the dedicated pupil and aspiring health care professional I am today.…

Furthermore, I have had the satisfaction to meet several professors who teach at the medical school and the prospect of learning from them is enticing. Being able to experience first-hand the compassion and care that the doctors at Miller demonstrate their patients have also confirmed that this school is not short of role models for me to follow. As mentioned in my previous response, I am from a Christian background and intend to continually pursue my relationship with God throughout my years in medical school. When people hear “pre-medicine,” they think of majors like biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, health sciences, and other popular majors. I chose chemistry as my major, not only because I wanted to stand out not blend in, but also because I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I have always performed better in chemistry than in biology. I prefer challenges and I love the way chemistry challenges me. I am going into freshmen year with the knowledge of the level of difficulty that my major encompasses. I need to remain focused and work hard in order to succeed and achieve a solid gap of at least 3.6 for admission to medical school.…

Going into my freshman year of college at The College of Charleston, I was unsure how the college experience would affect the next four years of my life; however, after nearly two semesters of coursework, career exploration, playing division one baseball, and being involved in the community, I have decided that the Honors College is the best path for me. Even as a sophomore, I understood that helping others succeed is essential. In my later years, I have perceived firsthand how vital such teamwork is. When a patient is admitted to the hospital for an operation, the pathologists, the nurses, the physician assistants, anesthesiologists, surgeons, and pharmacists all play a vital role in the concerted delivery of health care. In spite of this, many professors at Duke encourage incessant competition between pre-med students. Many of our courses are curved, and that means that it is in each student’s best interest for his or her peers to do poorly. This is not representative of the cooperative nature of the health care professions, nor is the increased competition conducive to learning.…
