Why I Want To Be Going To College Essay

Would my life have improved if the opportunity to further my education wasn’t there for me? Up until a month before deciding on going to Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute (SIPI), I believed that my life was going nowhere. In my mind, going to college just wasn’t plausible, due to me not having the financial funds or just outright having no faith in myself and my abilities. With everyone around me getting ahead in their life, I just felt like every day my life was like a broken record, doing the same thing over and over again and never progressing. Above all, I needed to do something meaningful in my life to become financially stable. Additionally to become a great role model and to be able to make a difference in my cultural community. At my best, I would like to become a financially stable, independent, and strong woman. In wanting that, I would need to be self-sufficient and be able to earn a living for myself. Earning a college degree would heighten my chances of getting a job. According to data from The U.S. Bureau Labor Statistics (BLA), “[E]arnings increase and unemployment decreases as educational attainment rises.” It’s inevitable to say that in order to be to reach my goals education is one of the only ways.
With many of their parents not having a college education and some not having a high school diploma, I would be one of their only examples of someone to get an education. All of them have impacted my life and made me want to do better and become the best person that they need.
