21th century is the world boon with and captured in technologies. Addicted life with technologies, technology natives do not realizes the problem of technologies. Although the most innovative technologies such as computers and phones brought efficiency to our world, now those are centered role of problems. As we can see in our society, technology cannot stray out from our life. It is already constitute a whole. As development of technologies grows, the most influenced by technologies, the students will rely on them increasingly. During class, not only technologies distract the students but also professors. Refraining the use of laptop in the class will lead progress and upper quality of education.

Contrary to competitive aspects, he used to be a laissez-faire attitude towards the technology. It was his job to make an attention and he didn’t want to “infantilize his students” by confiscating laptop during class. People convince that the multi-tasking using device while listening to lecture enhances the efficiency of getting more done and also provides the “emotional gratifications”. As the students in Shirky’s class highly getting distracted by a laptop, his idea has been changed being a techno-pessimist. Now, he actually affirms that the multi-tasking degrades the efficiency and provides procrastination not a gratification. Multi-tasking is “bad for the quality of cognitive work” which lead to a declaration of memory. A study of Stanford reports that multi-taskers cannot focus on subject. They believe they are improving their ability but actually lessening their ability “through over consumption”. A report found on the article claims that “the multitasking on a laptop poses a significant distraction to both users and fellow students and can be detrimental to comprehension of lecture content”: people who multi-tasks have lower grade.
