Why Do You Want To Change The Employee Hand Book?
When employers have the tendency to want to change the employee handbook at their discretion, it sometimes may seem unfair to the employee and they may feel almost as if a crime has been committed against them. However, an employer can prospectively take the time to modify policies by revising any of the employee handbook or any informing employees of the change (Smith & Harris, 2014). The rules in the handbook may have to be changed from time to time or even updated, but many of the rules usually stay the same and stay firm and solid. There may be different reasons that a company may want to change different policies or programs within an employee handbook. Employees do have the right to change any policy that will have an impact on the company whether the employee thinks that it is bad or good. …show more content…
In general when the company changes some of the policies in the handbook if your employees are what is known as “ at will” which means that the company that he or she works for can have the option to change the terms and condition at any time. When an employee has a contract, the company can’t just change the condition and terms when the company just wants to. In the United States many companies have examined ways to redraft their employee handbooks so as to minimize the risk of lawsuits against the company.
