The benefits of a college degree are to better set up yourself for the future in what you’re interested in. Many benefits are brought about by getting a college degree. One benefit is you drastically increase your earning potential if you attend college. Another benefit is the opportunity to meet new people and friends, which can sometimes be good when you need a job and you have those friends that might know where to get that job you have been looking for. A college degree may take a good bit of time, but you further your opportunities to get a job that you like instead of taking a job because you have no other option. Wheeling Jesuit offers a pre-engineering program that is combined with a 3/2 course plan. A 3/2 course plan consists of 5 years. For the first three years you attend Wheeling Jesuit University and next you attend the other 2 at Case Western Reserve University. At Wheeling Jesuit University I would take my core classes for those first three years. Next, at Case Western University it would work more on my career and go from all of engineering down to my career. The degree I want to acquire is in electrical engineering. Electrical engineering is a field of engineering that generally deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism. Electrical engineers develop and design electrical systems and electronic devices. My future job is to be an electrical engineer. To be an electrical engineer, you typically need to possess an academic degree with a major in electrical engineering technology. The usual study length is four or five years to complete the degree needed. The average salary for an electrical engineer ranges from 50k-115k per year.
