What Makes Art ,Art?
Essay #1
What Makes Art Art?

When thinking about the question of this essay it makes you think what does make art art. Art is defined as works produced with both skill and imagination to create a painting or sculpture. With that said, I consider art to be in many forms It can be made out of food, chalk, paint money and many others. Many famous pieces are made from these items your child’s mother’s day card or Jillian Beever famous for his 3-D pieces made out of chalk. So you see art can be made out of many things and what you may consider art someone else may agree that is art. What do I respond to when I see art is what is the artist trying to get across what is the meaning of this piece and how can it impact me. What does it make feel is it make me sad, happy, or angry? Your reaction to a particular piece does make a difference.
The formal qualities of art are somewhat important but not as important but everyone has a different perspective of the qualities and why they are important and why they are used. Content of the art is important because it helps us to know the difference from abstract or just scribble scrabble. So content is important in making art really art.No neither one should be subservient to another because they go handed in hand in making art and to be understood.
Just like the question in the beginning of the essay “What makes Art Art?” What a person perceives and or creates makes it to be called a masterpeice. Art does not have to be extra ordinary it is any shape it can be made out of anything or everything. It can be a simple piece of paper place in a certain part and that is art. Just like Graffiti, it also is art it may not be a Van Gogh but it also is Art. So when really think about it can we really decide how to qualify art as art? Or not call someone’s piece that they have worked so hard on not art? So does art make art art?

Art appreciation is the understanding of the timeless qualities that characterise all great art, and personally i feel is a subjective matter; what I find aesthetically pleasing may not apply to everyone else. There are many reasons why we value art; because it informs us, because of its expressive quality, and because of its artistic quality. In this case, the latter is being discussed, that good art is good because of aesthetic enjoyment of form, the balance and structure and proportion. Its argued that content is not important, just the formal qualities make it good art, for example Jackson Pollock, his work is based on lines and colours and is valued very highly, therefore content is irellevant.…

Art is considered to vary across culture and also through time. Art considered as a masterpiece by this group of people might not even be appreciated by another group of people. Art changes through time and the value of a certain artistic piece might increase or decrease through time. My definition of “art” is really anything that I, as an individual, find aesthetically pleasing. Art can be a painting, photograph, a song, a lump of clay, an advertisement, etc. Just about anything that someone creates; that someone else is inclined to appreciate and look at can be considered art. “Fine art” transcends art, in that it refines “art.” Fine art demonstrates a deeper focus, or even a specific talent, that an average person may not posses. For example, art might well describe a human stick-figure. However, fine art would describe the painting of a human figure, which…
