What Is Mrs. Cotter's Class Really Fun
Mrs.Cotter’s class is really fun. She always has fun activities every day. On the first few days we did the cup game activity. This is where we would take strings tied to a rubber band. We would stretch the rubber band around the cup flip it over and try to stack the cups into a pyramid. We also did the saving sammy project. We had to get the life jacket out from under the boat and put it on Sammy without dropping him. The next project was hard. My partner and I had a string on our wrists with a tangle in between them and we had to break free and we couldn’t take the strings off our wrists.

My second activity was called Electrical Static Ball, it was a plug in electrical static ball, my aim was to get the children to investigate why when they touch the static ball the electricity comes to them and doesn’t hurt them. I also wanted to teach them about the safety side of electricity so all of the children knew how to avoid it. I plugged the static ball into the computer and as soon as it went on the children…

In English class we read many books, which wasn’t my favorite thing. We also focused a lot on compound, complex and simple sentences. In math we did almost everything. We covered 12 chapters over the entire year and it was really busy, but fun I guess. Science has been fun. It’s kind of been like a second math class because we have been doing a lot of conversion problems and things like that. We also did a…

    The Schoolteacher's Guest

The Schoolteacher's Guest tells the story of Ines, a retired schoolteacher who runs the first hotel in the town, Agua Santa. Her son had previously been killed and his murderer had fled. Years later the murderer returns. Ines kills him and confesses to her best friend Riad Halabi. They bury the body and the whole community help to keep it a secret. It is set in Latin America. The town is described as being quiet, uneventful and cut off from the mainstream of activity; an 'insignificant backwater'. The community is depicted as being friendly, characters 'waving, as usual.' The climate is hot as 'the hour of the mosquitoes' is mentioned in the story and mosquitoes are limited to warm climates. We also are told it is 'on the edge of the jungle.' The community in this story is very close and they look out for each other. People respect each other and 'secrets are kept by good neighbors.' How much respect you have in the community is not defined by how much money you have or how important your job is. In the story Ines is described as 'mightier than that of the priest, the doctor, or the police.' The structure of this story has a huge effect on how well the story achieves its presentation of the community and other parts in this story. The story starts with a shock but the opening becomes less distressing as the story is explained. Also the way the story moves around in time means the story has more of an impact. The way that the events are set out means at first the story is shocking but then The Schoolteacher's Guest, characters are shocked by the death but it does not seem overly significant. Ines was more concerned with 'calculating that it would take at least two days to wash out the stains and at least two more to rid the room of its odor.' Also the stories show how much 'authority' certain people have and whether this is affected by the expectations of society. The writer seemed to be focused on history and culture of theirsociety and also how females are…

Mrs Tilscher seems like a very kind, caring teacher and her classroom brings warmth to the children. The classroom is described as “better than home”. Home, to many, is a warm and safe place, and for a classroom to be even better than home, we can tell that the students enjoyed attending Mrs Tilscher’s classes. “The classroom glowed like a sweetshop.” Sweetshops are many children’s favourite place because children enjoy sweets, and the word “sweetshop” gives readers the impression that her classroom is bubbly and lively, filled with joy. The poet states that “Mrs Tilscher loved you.” The pronoun “you” lets the readers feel like they truly are involved in Mrs Tilscher’s class or just like they are the students. “Some mornings, you found / she’d left a gold star by your name”. When a teacher puts a golden star sticker beside your name, it may mean that the work was well done, and as students, seeing a star beside your name was a very happy thing, which shows that Mrs Tilscher was an encouraging teacher.…

Then it was the classic Halloween parade, I dressed up as a princess just like all the girls did. I was wearing a pink dress, a shiny silver crown with some fake plastic diamonds and held a shiny silver star wound. I had makeup on my face, my cheeks were pink and my lips were red. This really made all the kids pumped. We got to dress up like Cinderella and Aurora; the boys were like Prince Charming and Prince Phillip. The most important part was the trick or treat, ever dressed up kids went to the decorated classrooms, sang the tricky song and got few treats from the witches, monsters, vampires and Barbie. All the kids had a great time with the teachers and parents. The activities we had in kindergarten were very amazing and awesome. I really enjoyed…
