A guy named Jeremiah Denton in the North Vietnamese in Hanoi for a television was asked questions in May 17,1966 and they forced him to respond properly or else bad things would happen to him. There are 3 methods to use Morse code depending on the situation:
The first method is using on and off tones on a telegraph in wires to pass it to another person. This one you would use on a normal day when sending from one place to another. The second method is to use a visual device like a flashlight and turn it on and off for Morse code as a signal. The final method is by radios sending out the code or tap something with the code.
How it is used today: Morse code can save your life from major catastrophes like terrorist bombing or natural disasters when you can't call 911 by using a telegraph. Since normal communication can be misread by interference, Morse code is just taps so you can understand the message and send out radio waves to tell them something for example east 1 short (e) pause 1 short then 1 long (A) pause 3 short(S) pause 1 (T) long; meaning to tell the plane/boat to go east Morse code used as a signal or a last resort when no other communication is available (Ex: You are stranded on an island and send the signal. The most commonly used signal is SOS ( 3 short taps/signals, 3 delayed taps/signals and finally 3 short …show more content…
Morse code professionals can as a matter of fact send messages faster than text messaging. Morse code was used in the military in areas where you can't talk or talking would give away your position and does not suffer from noisy conditions while normal communications does since voices are involved which can easily be interrupted while Morse code it is just taps . Also people that are handicapped that can't talk or hear can use morse code by blinking so the others get the message.
Where do the abbreviated codes come from?
First, if you were to type the full message it would take a long time for them to get the message meaning they had to make abbreviations for some common phrases ( K = okay or RP = repeat) they had to record the meanings for each combination ( Ex: cul = see you later)
Now that we know what Morse code is which is better? Communication or Morse code and why?
