When I first thought about the questions this week I had to step back and really think about what was being asked and why. The first question involves increasing U.S sports franchises popularity overseas and the cultural obstacles one must overcome. The next question deals with making products from these franchises appropriate for international market, and the last question brings in our government, would placing tariffs on imported products protect our industries. These three questions have multiple ways of being answered it will really depend on the beliefs of the person answering the question.

When you think about U.S sports franchises trying to increase their popularity overseas, you must first understand what the people overseas are looking for and how your sport fits within the culture. For this question I will use our version of football, we see that the NFL every year has games in London in order to try and gain some popularity with the people, the problem here is you can’t just have teams go and play the game the people overseas need to understand what is going on during the game. Soccer is already becoming a part of the U.S. so how did that happen, for me I think it was due to parents not wanting their kids to play football for the fear of injury do to the high impact nature of the game, it was a cultural change in the way people looked at the violence of football. Now back to my original point I watch many sports and soccer isn’t one of them as I have no clue what is going on and my interest isn’t there to make me want to explore and find out, and this is the problem the NFL has overseas people have traditions set when it comes to soccer and rivalries already exist and these are two cultural factors a U.S. franchise must overcome, not to mention must people overseas don’t like the fact that we decided to call our sport football as the foot isn’t nearly the biggest aspect of the

Operant Conditioning molds behavior by the consequences of an individual through punishment, reinforcement and extinction. Observational Learning happens from observing the behavior of other individuals. Social Learning is a behavior learned from a social environment. Prejudice is developed and nurture through classical and operant conditioning from an early age when an individual acts prejudice towards something and is rewarded for acting in such a way or saying such things. For example A parent, say father, says (and please do not take offence towards this it is only an example!) “Stupid wet-back, they’re no good for anything but taking our jobs!” a son or daughter will learn that this is applicable behavior. Then when the child, son or daughter, says something along the same lines around his or her father the father would agree, laugh or show affection towards the child’s comment. Thus the behavior is not being corrected allowing the ignorant behavior to continue. For my presentation I would use Rhyme-keys and Loci Method to help me remember notes and slides. I would Use Rhyme-keys for myself on key words in the slides to help me remember key ideas with Loci Method with pictures and diagrams in the slides to better help my memory. For example if I had a slide on the marketing sale rates on, say computers being sold I would use a graph with percentages over time with a scale on sale rate, I would use key words to explain the key points for why there is a clime or fall in sales. Cognitive, physiological, and behavioral are the three qualities. Cognitive is a mental process that involves memory, attention, understanding language, producing language, reasoning, problem solving and decision making. Physiological deals with the understanding of one’s own body, hygiene and appearance. Emotional is in regards to self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. If I were interviewing applicants for a position in my company I…

For my first international sports section I got something out of the Japan Times. At first glance I saw that soccer looked to be what they covered most because it was the main picture and had the first tab. I looked to see what soccer teams were being covered and I saw that it was all team, from local professional Japanese teams to the English Premiere League. This tells me that soccer is a big time sport in Japan because they seem to care about all leagues of soccer. The next sport that was on the Japanese paper was basketball. With the basketball I was surprised to see that the NBA was making news over in Japan, I expected to see their own league making most of the headlines but it was just the other way around. This shows how the NBA is a worldwide league and people of all cultures seem to be attracted to it. After the basketball section they had a section devoted to baseball. The main article for the baseball section was about the upcoming WBC (World Baseball Classic). It talked about the roster of the Japanese team and went into dept on some of the players on the team. I also saw how like basketball, baseball too had coverage of the American based league. News from the MLB was covered fairly deep in the Japanese paper. When thinking of why the MLB and the NBA was covered but the NFL wasn’t at all, I figured that there are a higher number of Japanese players in the MLB and NBA compared to a very low number in the NFL. Lastly I saw that the newspaper had a section devoted to Sumo. This is something new to me, I have new read anything about Sumo. They had news about the weights and matches of Sumos all across Japan. Overall the Japanese sport section covered around 50% Japanese sports and 50% American sports this is proof of the great impact of American sport.…
