Washington Dc Trip
Hopes, aspirations, dreams. These words immediately pop into my head when I think of Washington D.C. The capital of our country is one of the most important places on Earth. As an 8th grader with a passion for politics and a heart that just wants everyone to see the light in the world, going on the Mars Area Middle School 2017 Washington, D.C., trip would truly be the start of a hopeful, inspired upcoming politician. I would love to go on the D.C. trip because I would love to see our Country’s history, I would love to learn how to help our beloved country for the better, and I believe I would be a great asset to group of students who will be chosen to go on the trip. 200. trip, we visited many museums tin order to get a better feel of our country and our history. What better way is there to learn about how to make the future of our country a better place, than to visit the heart and soul of a country. Visiting Washington D.C. will give me the chance to learn what our founding fathers went through and did to make America the place it is today. I can use this trip to learn from their mistakes and replicate their successes. Visiting Washington D.C., would give me the ability to learn from the past to make our future better. As a student how went on the Washington D.C. trip last year; I know I could be a great asset to my peers who will be chosen to go on the trip with me. The teachers put too much work and effort into each school year. The D.C. trip should be a relaxing, educational break for both chaperones and the students. If there are no students who have been on the D.C. trip before, the entire trip could result in utter chaos, making this the last trip the Mars Area Middle School takes. 8th graders who once again apply to be chosen for the trip know the rules and procedures. I can help the seventh graders and my fellow 8th graders how may be confused with the process, what to bring or what it’s like from a student

I would like to invite you to be a panelist on Thursday, June 16th for Corps Member Induction. The panel will take place at the Grandview Library (500 W. Main St.) from 1:30 - 2:15. This panel is a crucial part of the induction of our corps members. Before the panel starts, our teachers will have spent the week exploring the Pacific Northwest, telling their own story and hearing stories. The week starts off with teachers sharing their own story of self, and then hearing the story of the Teach For America region and its values and priorities. The structure the stories is based on the research done by Marshall Ganz. We see this panel as a place for teachers to hear stories of Eastern Washington (aka South Central Washington) from your…

I, along with seven of my schoolmates from Sacred Hearts School grades 7-8 on December 8, 2016 got the chance to attend the "Discover Pearl Harbor" program in Oahu, Hawaii to learn about the history of the devastating Pearl Harbor attack. The Pacific Aviation Museum staff reached out to our school looking for five students to attend the program. Later, the director of the program Shauna Tonkin offered the opportunity to three more students from S.H.S. On the Pearl Harbor learning journey we got the chance to explore and learn about the devastating events that happened on December 7, 1941 along with other students from inter island and international schools.…

It was not like they said it would be. Taking a cold shower from a pipe coming out of the basement wall of a seventy-five-year-old school was not fun. They said this would be the best week of my summer. Until I began writing this essay, I had never thought about the impact my experiences on Appalachian Service Project mission trips had contributed to my transition from childhood to adulthood. However, now I realize that not only was I affecting other people’s lives, but the work I was doing was also changing me. That was the best week of my summer, and so have the two following trips been that I have taken.…

The reality is that most students never have the chance to travel outside the state of Georgia. Some may have never traveled outside the city they were born in. This, to many people, may be unacceptable. Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience an event outside of their comfort zone. Our school has the convenience to provide them with the opportunity. Pupils would appreciate this opportunity and be grateful to the school. As a result, they may even begin to excel in their…

Washington D.C. is a rich and expensive city with beautiful architectures and nature, and respectful community and residents with high security services. I lived and visited many countries, also I visited some other states and cities in the United States, but the Washington D.C. was different than all of them. They spend a lot of money for the architecture, services, facilities and transportation. Their feedback and experiences led me to look into the different opportunities and places that Alternative Breaks offers. When I found the trip in San Francisco, I felt that this program would offer me more leadership and volunteering opportunities. My favorite aspect of this program is how University of Oregon students can get together to help out communities and discuss the social issues important to our communities. From what I have learned from other students, Alternative Breaks can be a starting place before volunteering for the Peace Corps or Teach for America. This spoke to me because Alternative Breaks will give more volunteer experience in these communities. This program caught my eye because I love to travel, help out communities and I believe it would be a great leadership opportunity for…

During my freshman year of high school I received a letter in the mail. This letter was an invitation to play basketball in Australia, with other boys and girls of my age. The date was September 13, 2011. The letter stated that we would be leaving June 1, of 2012. Of course I wanted to go as soon as I read the letter, but my family was more curious about the trip. We did some research and figured out everything that would be offered on this trip. In my research I read of playing Australian basketball games, snorkeling, swimming in the ocean, surfing, and spending three days on Tangalooma Island. This was enough to convince my family that it would indeed be a fun trip for me to attend.…

Our group selected and discussed eight different essays addressing a range of subjects. Some of these essays focused on issues related to students, while others focused on issues related to our citizenship in this country and the world. The essays allowed us to consider issues that were familiar to us, as well as issues that were beyond our own personal experiences. Each essay provided us an opportunity to consider our future and how we view the world and the discussion allowed us to explore and gain insight into how we and our group members felt about these important issues.…
